The Product Stewardship Manager will plan, administer, and supervise an ongoing global product stewardship program in accordance with applicable federal, state, local and international regulations as well as in accordance with customer requirements and Materion practices and procedures. The position directs efforts to minimize the potential environmental, health and safety risks to our employees, customers and communities associated with the products we produce and place on the market as well as protect the Company against harm.

This position promotes responsible design, development and management of products throughout their life cycle.  This role must manage the Materion-wide uniform and centralized product stewardship customer communication system utilizing technology to create useful EHS information and tools to provide guidance on the safe handling of materials to both employers and employees throughout the supply chain including toll vendors. This role also directly engages with global sales and marketing personnel to address product specific, customer requests related to the safe use and handling of products. 

This position leads cross functional teams/initiatives and is responsible for, continuous improvement, and organizational results. This role must also interface with key cross functional groups within Materion to ensure the successful development and execution of strategies. Position requires the ability to partner with and influence senior business leaders and other employees. Candidates must be able to positively represent Materion to internal and external stakeholders such as business unit leaders and customers. The candidate must have proven leadership skills, and ability to coach and lead team’s of technical and non-technical professionals. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to a team-based work environment are required.

You will have an opportunity to:

  • Lead, create and maintain web-based product stewardship systems, information and tools to communicate potential product hazards to product users throughout the supply chain. Manage program to routinely review and update technical content of hundreds of beryllium product stewardship customer tools.

  • Assist in the management and maintenance of an electronic Materion-wide Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and Product Information Sheet (PIS) management/recordkeeping system integrated with SAP order entry system.

  • Provide direct beryllium onsite customer services for customers and toll vendors. Addresses all product safety hotline calls and website inquiries specific to working safely with beryllium.  Deliver customer WebX training sessions and regulatory updates via written communications.  Maintain and provide continuing education to the Beryllium Consultant Network.  Conduct annual beryllium EHS 8-hour seminar for EHS professionals at a technical conference.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 4-year degree in a science aspect of Environmental, Health and Safety.

  • Preferred Master’s degree in a science aspect of Environmental, Health and Safety.

  • Coursework in worldwide regulations and product stewardship is desirable.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of high functioning EHS experience involving the management and control of toxic substance(s).

  • Experience in Product Stewardship.

Preferred:

  • Specific knowledge of beryllium regulatory, legislative issues and the science of beryllium toxicology.

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist and/or Certified Safety Professional designation.
