The Finance and Accounting Department delivers results-oriented financial support and service to Dimensional’s clients and the other departments throughout the firm. The firm relies on our department for technical expertise in key areas, such as accounting principles, tax regulation, and regulatory standards. Finance and Accounting professionals put a premium on intellectual curiosity, the ability to cope well with ambiguity, and a comfort level with change management in helping Dimensional meet its financial goals. The Fund Finance team provides oversight of Dimensional’s fund products, including daily valuation, expense budgeting and payments, and financial, regulatory, and Board reporting. Fund Finance is a highly collaborative team focused on continuous process improvement.
The Fund Finance Manager - Financial & Regulatory Reporting Oversight (Manager) is responsible for the planning and execution of financial reporting cycles for Mutual Funds, ETFs, US Trusts, and Canadian Trusts. The Manager is also responsible for including analysis of financial information used in the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reports and highlight of issues to management. This role actively partners with individuals throughout the firm, third-party service providers, and external auditors to provide information and meaningful insights.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial & Regulatory Reporting Oversight
Oversees third-party service providers to ensure adherence to contractual obligations, including established policies and procedures and participates in annual due-diligence meetings.
Coordinates, plans, and executes production and review of large fund filings and reporting to ensure information is accurate, in compliance with regulatory requirements, and filed in a timely manner. Reporting includes, but not limited to, annual and semi-annual N-CSR (including Tailored Shareholder Reporting), N-CEN, 24F-2, N-PORT, N-MFP, Form PF and Form CPO-PQR.
Interacts with and supports external audit firm during audit reporting cycles.
Research new accounting standards and regulatory guidance to propose changes to disclosures, including policies and procedures, as applicable and required.
Prepares and coordinates various Board reports, along with ad-hoc requests and special projects, as necessary.
Maintains procedure documents relating to all responsibilities of the role.
Builds strong working relationships and communicates effectively with internal stakeholders, third-party service providers, and external auditor firm.
Works closely with internal departments and third-party service providers on annual update documents, fund changes, fund launches, and other high-profile projects.
Seeks opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes through new technology and innovative thinking.
Provides robust, reliable data and metrics reporting to present a single view of the facts to support management decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline.
5+ years of experience in the financial services industry with asset management product experience (Mutual Funds, ETFs, Hedge Funds and Private Equity Funds).
Prior experience with third-party service providers, external audit firm, and fund accounting with a deep knowledge of financial reporting production and requirements for US GAAP and IFRS.
Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to articulate and present a clear point of view on technical matters in clear, concise, and meaningful communications for various levels of the organization.
Ability to build key relationships within Finance and other professionals across the organization. Highly motivated, participative, and collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Delivers under time pressure while using sound judgement.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented, comfortable working with large amounts of data, and industry trends/news.
Experienced with driving process improvement and proactively identifying and resolving operational gaps.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential, sensitive, and non-public information with discretion.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with Microsoft tools and Business Intelligence solutions to create efficient, well-controlled processes.
Proficiency in computer programming, database administration (e.g., SQL; Python, Tableau) and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
