Workstream is a mission-driven company that believes in building premium, modern software solutions for hourly businesses. There are 2.7 billion hourly workers, who make up 80% of the global workforce, but they've been heavily underserved by technology and deserve better. We help local businesses around you hire, manage, and pay qualified workers.

Our customers include leading brands from multiple sectors, including Burger King, Carl's Jr./Hardee's, IHOP, KFC, and Culvers. At series B, we are quickly expanding our product portfolio. We are backed by legendary VCs and industry experts like Founders Fund, BOND, and Coatue.

We are looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer who can build exciting mobile apps to serve the 2.7 billion deskless workers space. You will work along with designers and product managers to build and launch new versions of our apps. You will also build and scale our mobile infrastructure, toolchains, and applications. This is a rare opportunity to lead and get hands-on experience across the entire mobile ecosystem and be rewarded in an early stage startup.

Day in the Life:

  • Workstream’s mobile is an early initiative. Senior engineers actively translate business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables, from building quick prototypes to production-quality systems.
  • Work with PM to iterate, develop, and launch new features, ultimately creating a multi-product Workstream app for blue-collar workers and their employers.
  • Be the go-to expert for mobile engineering at Workstream. Raise the technical bar on mobile engineering when necessary, by improving best practices, producing reusable code, libraries, toolchains for future use, documentation, automated tests, and thorough and precise monitoring.
  • Partner with other engineers to design, develop, and deploy scalable and reliable backend services for your mobile app.
  • Provide project leadership and career guidance to our emerging mobile team.
  • Advise other engineer leaders and provide trusted perspectives on Mobile.

Qualifications:

  • [Mobile] 4+ years experience in mobile engineering roles working and launching production-quality consumer-facing apps.
  • [Mobile] 3+ years of experience with Android or iOS application development in a single programming language  (Flutter, React Native, Java/Kotlin, ObjectiveC/Swift). We are migrating from ReactNative/Typescript to Flutter/Dart.
  • [Mobile] 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture and familiarity with modern mobile frameworks and tools (e.g. build systems like Bazel).
  • [Foundation] Strong CS fundamentals
  • [Team] Familiar with product/design/engineering life cycles at startups, and can collaborate effectively with mobile engineers, designers and product managers.
  • [Team] Have experience in people and team management. Have a passion for helping grow the mobile team and the engineers on the team.
  • [Team] Enjoy working in a dynamic startup environment.

If you don't meet all of the requirements listed here, we still encourage you to apply. No job description is perfect, and we might find an even more suitable opportunity that matches your skills and experience.

What We Offer:

  • A mission-driven and value-based company dedicated to empowering deskless workers and local businesses
  • An early employee opportunity at a Series B startup; work with the founding team and industry veterans to accelerate your career
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision
  • WeWork Office - Amenities and Perks
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Hybrid Office/WFH schedule
