Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

LOB Summary:

This role focuses on designing, developing, and enhancing backend components that power the Global Markets Trade Surveillance platform. The system monitors trade and order activity, detects potential market-misconduct patterns, and supports regulatory investigations in alignment with compliance and industry standards. The engineer ensures solutions meet functional, non-functional, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strong design integrity, scalability, and testability.

The position contributes to modernizing the surveillance engine, integrating GenAI-based capabilities, improving detection accuracy, and optimizing analyst workflows. The engineer works closely with Compliance, Surveillance SMEs, Platform Engineering, and Production Support across the full delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
• Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
• Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
• Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
• Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
• Automates manual release activities
• Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of backend development experience, ideally within Trade Surveillance or Global Markets technology. 
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience building backend services, APIs, and distributed systems. 
• Experience designing and deploying scalable, production-grade software. 
• Experience building Gen AI based Agentic Applications using Langgraph & CrewAI
• Knowledge of RESTful API design principles. 
• Familiarity with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or Docker. 
• Hands-on experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines. 
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
• Organized, detail-driven, and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
• Familiarity with Agile practices (scrum, backlog refinement, sprint planning). 

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with surveillance or regulatory systems. 
• Exposure to GenAI application development.

Pay range

$102,900.00 - $179,900.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
