We’re looking for an experienced attorney to join Snowflake’s Legal team to manage a variety of employment and litigation matters.  This role will report to Snowflake’s Senior Director, Associate General Counsel - Employment & Litigation.  This is an in-person role based in Dublin, CA. This is not a remote position.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Employment

  • Serve as the employment law partner to various teams within Snowflake to provide advice and manage projects involving a wide range of issues, including payroll compliance issues, HR-related compliance issues, global mobility / immigration issues, recruiting issues, professional services and  contingent worker issues, pay equity reporting and employment-related statutory reporting (e.g., EEO-1, AAP, etc.), pay practices (including vacation pay and overtime calculations), environmental health and safety compliance,  and employee training requirements.
  • Serve as the employment law team lead for employment-related due diligence and integration activities as part of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Serve as the employment law team lead for international expansion and other corporate initiatives.
  • Coordinate with privacy counsel on issues related to employee data protection and employment-related privacy issues, including assisting in responding to data subject access requests.
  • Draft employment-related agreements, templates, policies, and forms (e.g., leave of absence policies, employment agreements, policies, separation agreements, etc.). 
  • Prepare and deliver training, in coordination with HR, on HR and employment law topics for managers and business leaders. 
  • Conduct periodic reviews, audits, and compliance assessments of employment-related policies and practices.
  • Monitor changes and updates to employment laws; draft, maintain, and update legal research memos and resources;  and advise stakeholders of developments that may impact Snowflake.

Litigation

  • Working with our Legal team, outside counsel, and other stakeholders, manage commercial-, IP-, trademark-, bankruptcy-, and employment-related disputes and litigation matters.
  • Manage responses to subpoenas, garnishment orders, domestic relations orders, statutory requests for information, and requests from government and law enforcement agencies.
  • Lead and manage internal investigations on matters involving legal risks to Snowflake.
  • Assist and lead efforts in creating, improving, and developing scalable processes and procedures related to the handling of litigation matters for a rapidly growing company.
  • Advise business stakeholders on litigation risks and issues involved in business disputes.
  • Pragmatically weigh legal risks and benefits of complex situations and propose practical solutions with tact and maturity.
  • Review and advise on litigation-related contractual provisions in commercial agreements, to include providing advice on dispute resolution, governing law, venue, arbitration, limitation of liability, and indemnification clauses.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • JD from an accredited law school, membership in at least one state bar, and ability to practice in the jurisdiction in which this position is located.
  • Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, with prior experience as an in-house counsel and substantive employment law and litigation experience. 
  • Experience conducting employment law due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
  • International employment law experience, preferably to include countries in the EMEA and APAC regions and with international expansion activities.
  • Litigation management experience.
  • Experience conducting internal investigations.
  • Law firm experience preferred.
  • Ability to explain complicated concepts in simple terms.
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Attitude that no project is too big or too small. 
  • Sense of humor and passion for the job.
