The CS Lead provides managerial and clinical leadership to the staff of the Respiratory Therapy Department within designated specialty area while performing the duties of a Registered Respiratory Therapist. 

 
A caregiver in this position works 7:00am—7:30pm.   


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide clinical and managerial leadership to the respiratory staff as designated by departmental management 

  • Monitor daily operations of assigned areas and acts as a resource person for staff 

  • Assign therapist workload and adjusts staffing based on patient volume 

  • Participate in continuous quality improvement, projects and in-services 

  • Provide feedback on staff performance 

  • Assist with development and implementation of Respiratory Therapy Policy/Procedures/Protocols 

  • Act as a Respiratory Care liaison by developing/maintaining communication with the multidisciplinary care team. 

  • Assist with developing and providing ongoing orientation/training for newly hired therapists, existing staff, nursing and LIPs. 

  • At sites where applicable, the employee will perform blood gas puncture and analysis. 

  • If the employee is designated as a Technical Consultant by the blood gas Laboratory Director, the employee must meet minimum qualifications as specified by the CLIA code of federal regulations. 

  • Perform duties outlined in the Respiratory Therapist job descriptions and participates as part of the assigned therapist workload and all duties as appropriate 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Associate's degree. 

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy. 

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC. 

  • State of Florida Department of Health License Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) 

  • Three years of experience in Respiratory Therapy including critical care or a specialty environment is required OR must possess a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in Respiratory Therapy including critical care or a specialty environment. 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Requires normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.

  • May require sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • This position requires proficiency in treatment of respiratory disorders for inpatient and outpatients with various media, i.e. oxygen, therapeutic gases, inhaled medications and positive pressure devices.

  • Interpretive skills frequent interactive and consultative associations are inherent in this position.

  • The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory or visual fashion is essential.

  • Physical Duties: Moderate to heavy lifting and positioning of patients.

  • Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment.

  • Working Conditions: 100% air-conditioned.

  • Moderate risk of exposure to blood or air-borne pathogens.

  • Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
