Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

Our SVP, JCPenney Marketing Director is responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage new and existing JCPenney cardholders, foster loyalty, drive repeat business, and increase customer advocacy through targeted marketing campaigns.  This leader’s success relies on close cross functional collaboration with both internal Synchrony stakeholders and JCPenney client teams to maximize customer lifetime value and achieve business goals.  An important component of this leaders responsibilities will be to lead and develop a large team of direct reports.

Essential Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management

  • Establish and develop key relationships at senior levels of partner organization.

  • Understand and incorporate the client's key business objectives, strategic vision, and marketing calendar into the planning process to achieve set objectives.

Focus on Cardholder Acquisition and Retention

  • Identify portfolio segments to target for partner and business gain; test and implement programs to grow these segments.

  • Strong understanding of customer loyalty behavior and successful marketing strategies to increase brand engagement.

  • Identify and build the financial product presentment and consumer payments journey unique to the brand offering, and ticket size.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with business and client team to lead, develop, implement, and monitor dynamic annual growth plans.

Data-Driven Approach

  • Optimize contractual marketing spend and pursue additional funds to meet growth goals.

  • Monitor & manage performance of all key credit and marketing metrics vs. plan. Assist in the development of the Synchrony Financial planning cycle.

Multi-Channel Brand Presentment

  • Manage all aspects of the value proposition, including tracking industry trends, competitor’s and customer experience metrics. Ensure program profitability and penetration through continued enhancements.

  • Ensure digital assets are in place and optimized.  Push for cutting edge thinking and agenda.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or, in lieu of a degree, a high school equivalent and 16+ years of marketing experience within the co-branded card or general credit card space.

  • 12+ years marketing experience, preferably in retail credit/loyalty and/or financial services co-brand industry experience to include:

    • Demonstrated growth marketing leadership skills (analytic and creative) with significant exposure to consumer facing programs/products, and value propositions.

    • Proven experience with marketing automation tools and digital marketing channels. 

    • Experience managing organizations and other professionals with a minimum of 8 years of managerial responsibility.

    • Demonstrated approach to maintaining industry insights and a personal curiosity to enhancing the consumer experience.

    • Collaborative style and approach with comfort working in a matrixed, decentralized structure.

    • Expertise in data analysis and CRM systems to leverage customer insights

    • Excellent communication and storytelling skills to create compelling customer-centric content

    • Ability to travel (25%). The client is in Frisco, Tx

Desired Characteristics:

  • Advanced degree (MS, MBA).

  • Experience with PLCC and co-brand revolving credit products

  • Outstanding communications, relationship building, influencing and collaboration skills.

  • Strategic thinking with ability to develop and implement actionable plans to drive business results.

  • Familiarity with value proposition and/or new product development processes, from concept innovation through go-to-market execution.

  • Direct marketing experience with both acquisition and loyalty/lifecycle channels.

  • Proven ability to partner and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated project management skills.

  • Strong problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to evaluate situations using multiple sources of information.

Grade/Level: 15

The salary range for this position is 200,000.00 - 330,000.00 USD Annual.  This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan target of 25% of salary and an Annual Equity target of 25% of salary.  

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
