Pay Range
$18.85 - $28.30
Major Responsibilities:- Assists customers with sales and satisfaction and suggests substitute items if requested item is not available.
- Discourages shoplifting by being aware of all customers and circulating throughout the shop.
- Assists in setting up original displays of merchandise. Assists in the buying process and recommends merchandise based on customer preference.
- Checks in magazines and cards and also maintains the candy supply and restocks items as needed from the storeroom.
- Knows procedure for pricing merchandise and the procedure used to process the paperwork.
- Maintains accurate bookkeeping records, including daily balancing and preparing cash and bank deposits.
- Accepts orders for special flower requests, places orders, and notifies customers of receipt.
- Works on the cash register and handles credits and over-rings. Corrects errors on the register. Installs new register tape as needed.
- May prepare and serves snacks, beverages, sandwiches and other food items.
- Maintains the appearance and sanitation of the Gift Shop through routine dusting and cleaning.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:Education Required:Experience Required:Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:- Excellent customer service, human relations and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:- Must be able to bend adequately to lift, move, pack and unpack boxes.
- Must be able to utilize a step stool to reach items and dust shelves.
- Incumbent must also be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Subject to possible verbal abuse from dealing with customers.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Must be able to use hands with fine manipulation when using computer keyboard, cash register, and retail items.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 35 lb.
- Must have functional vision, speech, and hearing.
