Do work that matters

As a member in Commonwealth Securities’ Equity Capital Markets team, you will be involved in raising equity capital and providing strategic advice to the Group’s corporate clients. Equity can be raised in a number of ways including Follow-on Offerings, IPOs, and Listed Debt offerings. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and provide solutions for companies wanting to raise equity as well as partnering with institutional relationships to deliver investment opportunities to the CBA client base including CommSec and CBA Private Bank. The team is also responsible for the origination and distribution of ASX listed debt instruments alongside CommBank’s Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team.

More specifically, you'll:

  • Be a contributor to the execution of CBA’s Equity Capital Markets activities.
  • Assist with the origination and execution on a range of primary market and follow-on transactions including initial public offerings, listed debt security issuance, entitlement offers and share placements.
  • Contribute to developing financial models and evaluating potential equity capital market transactions.
  • Review, compile and summarise large sets of information, including company, financial information and key industry trends, to assist with pitching to potential clients and evaluating transactions.
  • Prepare documentation including transaction approval papers, offer documents and marketing documents and coordinate the transaction settlement process.
  • Structure and co-ordinate materials for pitching to potential clients.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders across the Bank including; Corporate & Institutional Bankers, Compliance, Legal and Marketing.
  • Assist senior team members in the day-to-day management of the team’s activities and help to manage and uplift the team’s Risk and Compliance processes.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Keen interest and principal understanding of Australian equity markets
  • Understanding of fundamental analysis and financial modelling.
  • Understanding of various valuation techniques
  • Strong focus on accuracy and precision with excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in excel, power point and data analysis.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish professional and internal networks.
  • Be a confident multi-tasker and self-starter with strong time management skills to help you prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Law or other relevant discipline.
  • A well-rounded academic background from a top tier educational institution.
