We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our P-8A New Zealand Team.  You would be the primary on-site Point of Contact (PoC) for Boeing New Zealand (BNZ), working with our industry partners, to plan, prepare, install and commission the P-8A Training System facility based at RNZAF Base Ohakea, located in the central North Island of New Zealand.

The role is due to commence in Sep/Oct 2024 and is for a fixed term of 18 months, with the potential for future opportunities with Boeing post the successful implementation of the Training System.

Responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager will be an integral member of the BNZ team, who in collaboration with a team of professional from both Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) and Boeing Global Services (BGS) and our Industry Partners, will have overall responsibility for managing the P-8A Poseidon training system site activation project. The Senior Project Manager’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, developing and coordinating project plans in support of the P-8A Poseidon Training System site activation project, from inception through to customer handover.
  • Leading and supporting the project team.
  • Proactively engaging with project stakeholders including Customers, Suppliers and Business Leaders to deliver project commitments.
  • Applying project planning principles and techniques to achieve desired outcomes on budget and on plan. Ability to define, design and plan projects, achieve project deliverables, and optimize the contributions of internal and external resources.
  • Incorporating, adopting and ensuring security and EHS requirements are adhered to by all stakeholders.
  • Identifying risks and opportunity potential, and developing mitigation plans and adoptingproject change as required.
  • Developing and using collaborative relationships within and outside the organization to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals. Builds rapport and trust among stakeholders
  • Helping to coordinate additional support where required from the Boeing Global Services (BGS) team located on base and throughout the worldwide Boeing support network.
  • Preparing and delivering monthly program status reports and coordinating project management meetings and site readiness reviews.

Experience/Qualifications

To be successful in this role, ideally you will have Formal Project Management, Engineering, Business or Management qualifications and 5+ years’ experience working within complex project environment.  Other competencies sought include:

  • Experience leading end-to-end medium to large, construction or infrastructure-based projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all project management areas in accordance with accepted industry project management standards. 
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to exert influence with customers and at multiple organisational levels.
  • High level communication and negotiation skills with a strong focus on building successful relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Drive and passion to grow capability, mentor and coach other PM professionals.
  • Experience working within Defence is preferred.
