The Dow Chemical Company’s St. Charles Operations has an opening for a Maintenance Technician (Millwright). You will support one of its businesses at the Hahnville, Louisiana site.
As the maintenance technician you will overhaul, repair, and perform advanced troubleshooting on industrial rotating equipment. You will work on reciprocating compressors, various types of blowers, centrifugal pumps, centrifugal compressors, gearboxes, and other rotating mechanical equipment. You will have training and experience similar to a journeyman millwright, with some experience in equipment-rigging typically performed by this position. You will be required to perform minor pipefitting tasks associated with general millwright work.
Diagnoses and corrects equipment problems.
Calibrates and aligns equipment.
Completes preventative maintenance activities.
Checks sizing of components and parts.
Specifies, requisitions, and installs parts and equipment.
Coordinates maintenance spare parts.
Assists in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance through planner, work coordinator and operations input.
Sets up and calibrates, tests, measures, and repairs all types of controls and instruments with pneumatic, electrical, and electronic variables.
Repairs, maintains, and installs equipment and machinery which is used in the process.
Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions and documents failure analysis.
Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.
Works within established Maintenance Work Processes and helps resolve issues that surface as a result of planning and scheduling work.
Works to repair a variety of processes and rotating equipment used in industrial processing. The mechanical equipment may include ANSI pumps, various types of compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, turbines and generators.
This job requires hands-on fieldwork to determine the cause of equipment failure, locate spare parts, and install spare parts using repair procedures and machinist techniques for alignment.
Utilize functional, and technical knowledge, company standards, and educational background or experience to analyze and solve problems.
Effectively working and maintaining relationships with the Natural Work Teams and key stakeholders with diverse perspectives and backgrounds is essential including Engineers, Operations personnel, and co-workers to identify and resolve technical issues.
A minimum of a High School Diploma or a GED Equivalent.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial setting.
Valid US Driver's License.

NCCER certified Millwright.
SAP experience.
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Wear and use respirators.
Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
Advanced Mechanical Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and correct issues with industrial rotating equipment such as compressors, pumps, blowers, and gearboxes.
Precision Equipment Alignment and Calibration: Skilled in aligning and calibrating mechanical systems and instruments, including pneumatic, electrical, and electronic controls.
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Experience in executing preventive maintenance and performing repairs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
Technical Documentation and Failure Analysis: Competence in documenting maintenance activities, analyzing equipment failures, and using data to drive reliability improvements.
Communication: Participate in daily meetings and daily updates with the team.
Rigging and Pipefitting: Proficiency in equipment rigging and performing minor pipefitting tasks as part of general millwright responsibilities.
Safety and Compliance Awareness: Ensuring adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards, including housekeeping and waste management in work areas.
