Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Principal Data Scientist to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position requires on-site support located in Palmdale, CA or Clearfield, UT where technology and teamwork come together. The selected candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Manufacturing Engineering Team working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.
Data Scientist job duties involve the following:
Creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Analysis may have many applications such as to address a business issue or provide a competitive advantage for the organization. Requires strong statistical and data visualization skills.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 5 years’ experience in engineering or related field OR a Master's degree with 3 years of related experience.
Strong understanding of SQL, Python, Tableau
Experience in data gathering, cleansing and transformation techniques
Strong understanding of Manufacturing Engineering Concepts/Theory and Production Operations
Working knowledge of databases (SQL Server, AWS Databases (DynamoDB, RDS, or similar)) and schema
Experience with dashboarding frameworks (Plotly Dash, Panel, Streamlit, Tableau, etc.)
Experience with modeling and normalizing complex data
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top-Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Ability to work 1st shift "5:00am-3:30pm" or 2nd shift "4:12pm-2:42am" and any work schedule (times may vary)
Ability to work for extended periods of time at a workstation on a computer or similar device for up to 10 hours / duration of shift. Occasional extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Data Science/ Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Secret or Top-Secret clearance preferred
Experience defining solution architecture to drive schedule and cost reductions while maintaining quality
Hands-on experience with core Python data science tools (Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib, SciKit-Learn, etc.)
Hands-on experience with deep learning libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
Experience with anomaly detection and synthetic data strategies for machine learning
Hands-on experience with time series analysis and sequence modeling, constraint optimization
Experience with Agile development
Experience developing tools to improve efficiency, eliminate repetitive tasks, and implement new analysis tools/techniques.
Experience in graph technologies, natural language processing
