Job Description

As the Lead Finance Specialist – Statutory, you will be responsible to ensure timely and accurate completion of statutory filings, as well as supporting the execution of strategic global statutory and tax projects.  The Statutory Activities include the oversite of Statutory audit processes with respect to legal entities that will be transferred to GE Vernova from GE Corporate as part of separation. The role will support several legal entities and countries. The role will work closely with USGAAP and tax teams to ensure efficient and effective hand-offs and timely stat and tax filings.  The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and project management skills.    

Job Description  

 

Specifically, this role’s primary responsibilities include:  

  • Responsible to ensure that all statutory reporting steps are executed compliantly and efficiently. 

  • Partner with USGAAP and Tax teams to drive efficient and effective collaboration and timely USGAAP, Stat and Tax filings. 

  • Project manage execution of Stat audits to ensure timely completion and clear deliverables from all stakeholders.  

  • Ensure all milestones are planned and executed from audit engagement through to timely stat to GAAP reconciliations and hand off to tax teams for tax filings. 

  • Collaborate with in-country service providers and involved GE teams to identify opportunities to reduce delays and manage risks. 

  • Liaise with accounting and IT system teams to enhance and develop system capabilities to manage stat requirements efficiently and effectively.  

  • Support effective and smooth transition of activities from GE Corporate to GE Vernova minimizing disruption to the business
     

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent knowledge or experience in accounting, finance, or other business-related field and significant progressive accounting or finance experience. 
  • Extensive experience working with financial systems including but not limited to Oracle, Hyperion, FDL, or other related tools.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner.  
  • Strong analytical skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change.  
  • Clear thinking/problem solving successfully led projects/process improvements within operations/finance functions; able to quickly grasp new ideas.  
  • Integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others.  
  • Confidence/Assertiveness: strong influencing skills.  

 

 

Desired Characteristics/ qualifications 

  • Demonstrated ability working in cross functional teams or in matrixed organization with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows.   
  • Prior experience/ exposure working with GE’s financial/ operational processes and IT applications is preferred. However, commensurate experience in other organizations can be considered. 
  • Has very good understanding of risks and controls and is able to apply it in the context of achieving business objectives. 
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Adaptable/ Flexible: Ability to work beyond role boundaries or with uncertainty & fluid situations- able to embrace change in response to new information, unexpected or different circumstances and ambiguous situation. 
  • Is quality conscious- provides quality deliverables consistently and has an eye for details. 
  • Is Organized and manages time well.
