Position Overview:

The position involves partnering with business stakeholders to establish a clear and ambitious product vision, which is then effectively communicated to leadership and delivery teams. The individual will serve as the primary business point of contact for day-to-day execution. A "business process first" approach is essential, requiring an understanding of current and future-state processes before devising solutions. This role involves decomposing processes into capabilities and functional components to support process reengineering and requirements definition. It is important to review, refine, and prioritize features and user stories to ensure they align with the product vision and desired outcomes. Continuous improvement of the backlog with the team is necessary, ensuring that items are clearly defined, estimated, and prioritized. The position requires championing customer-driven design by incorporating user pain points, usability findings, and market/industry insights. The individual will own the product end-to-end with a strong decision-making mandate that aligns with executive direction. Facilitating cross-functional collaboration across UX, Change Management, Development, Architecture, Data, and other horizontal teams is crucial to delivering and rolling out new capabilities. Progress, value, risks, and trade-offs must be communicated to stakeholders at multiple levels. Participation in or leadership of activities supporting development and deployment, such as process redesign, Day 1 readiness, risk and controls documentation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), is expected. Additionally, documenting risk and controls, including policies, procedures, process flows, and risk and control matrices, is required. Your Impact:

The Product Owner Role will be part of the Multifamily Technology team, helping to transform the way in which Freddie Mac does business. The role will help define, launch, and drive the product vision and strategy for the Multifamily function for years to come supporting Capital Markets business line. This role will also directly support the Chief Product Owner, partnering closely to align priorities, execution, and outcomes across the broader product portfolio.

Your work enables decision-making and spans three primary areas:

  • Customer & process understanding: Partner with internal and external customers to understand needs and operational workflows and translate them into solutions that deliver value.

  • Strategy-to-execution alignment: Understand business strategy and apply it to backlog prioritization and roadmap decisions.

  • Representation & partnership: Serve as a key point of contact and subject matter expert for Multifamily Technology, including engagement with technology vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • 8 - 10 years' experience in product managementproduct ownership, or product analysis.
  • Proficient with Atlassian software suite (Jira, Confluence) or similar agile management tools
  • Demonstrated experience managing product backlogs and roadmaps within agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Able to influence stakeholders and create consensus during moments of uncertainty
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments with the flexibility to manage multiple concurrent priorities
  • Proven track record delivering large, complex change management projects involving multiple teams, particularly those related to business applications and technology
  • Strong analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to lead, motivate and energize a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present to management and expertly facilitate meetings
  • Experience in the mortgage, real estate or broader financial services industry is required

  • Trusted partner to the Chief Product Owner: Provide proactive support on prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and delivery execution—helping translate portfolio direction into clear team-level outcomes.

  • Champion responsible AI adoption: Proactively identify and socialize use cases where AI can improve decision-making, automation, customer experience, and operational efficiency—while partnering with stakeholders and connected teams to ensure solutions meet governance, risk, and control expectations.

  • Data- and insight-led prioritization: Use customer feedback, performance metrics, and market insights to make clear tradeoffs and keep the backlog aligned to the highest-value outcomes.

  • Strong stakeholder leadership: Work with Chief Product Owner to build alignment across business, technology, and vendor partners; communicate clearly; and drive decisions in ambiguous or rapidly changing environments.

  • Relentless focus on customer value: Advocate for customer needs, validate assumptions through testing and feedback loops, and ensure delivered capabilities solve real problems.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $145,000 - $217,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
