The VP - Senior Underwriter will work closely with key business divisions, including the Origination, Global Production Operation (GPO), Closing, Servicing, Transformation and Legal divisions.

We Innovate to shape the future of CRE, so in this role you will:

  • Work with the DCUW to ensure adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures associated with its GSE housing underwriting standards.
  • Review debt application packages for conformance to GSE housing guidelines. Determine whether loan sizing is consistent with program criteria.
  • Critically review borrower credit information, third party reports, property financial and physical information to determine whether the borrower and property meet program requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with GSE Guides, required forms and third-party reports.
  • Draft and finalize the underwriting submittal package, which includes describing the transaction’s strengths and weaknesses, discussing risks and mitigates, and requesting any associated waivers. This also includes the final review and approval of all related reports and documents connected with the transaction.
  • Provide necessary support and direction during the closing process to assure conformity with the major credit terms of the transaction.
  • Ensure the DCUW, originators and analysts remain informed of project specific progress and issues on a proactive basis, to facilitate the smooth execution of all transactions under application.
  • Provide GSE housing program training and mentoring internally to analysts, other underwriters, analysts, GPO and other team members as needed.
  • Remain current on GSE housing programs, policies, and legislation, including participation in regular training with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and other GSE housing funding providers.
  • Participate in process improvements and technological initiatives that facilitate smooth deal execution, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Exceptional credit sense, judgment, and decision-making skills, with demonstrable technical skills in underwriting, structuring, and closing complex multifamily deals.
  • Requires an independent worker with strong project management skills, excellent accuracy and attention to details, and an ability to adjust to industry changes.
  • Ability to travel for property inspections, Agency training, industry and company conferences, training of analysts as required.
  • Five to seven years prior experience  in a similar position.

  • Employee must have a valid driver’s license/ability to drive (including corporate vehicles).
  • Ability to use public transportation (including airlines).
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
