About the Role

As a Senior Clinician, you will provide a high level of clinical expertise in relation to psychological interventions for consumers presenting with suicidal ideation, and associated behaviours. This group of consumers may present with multiple complex problems including co-morbid high prevalence disorders, associated social relationship issues, everyday living skill needs and Dual Diagnosis. 

  • Participate within a frameworks providing triage, intake and care corrdination for consumers presenting with suicidal behaviours and ideas.
  • Provide case management for up to 3 months linking into long term follow up services.
  • Provide clinical leadership to multidisciplinary staff members and actively contribute to clinical practice within the mental health service as a senior staff member.
  • Provide leadership and encourage a culture of active participation in professional development and ongoing learning opportunities including discipline specific training and research.

Classifications for this position will range from:

  • OT/SW Grade 3 YB24 – YB27 or YC46 - YC49 ($101,597 - $116,074 per annum pro rata)


Your Contribution

  • A minimum of at least 5  years post qualification clinical experience within Public Mental Health Services.
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (except Social Work).
  • Occupational Therapists - Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Social Workers - An approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Current Victorian driver’s license
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About the Mental Health Team
St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner-city areas of Yarra and Boroondara.  The adult mental health service components are: The Footbridge Community Care Unit (CCU), the 44 bed Acute Inpatient Service (AIS) located on the St. Vincent’s Hospital site, the North Fitzroy PARC and two community mental health services (CMHS) at Hawthorn and East Melbourne (Clarendon CMHS). Community mental health services comprise the Triage and Crisis assessment and Treatment (CAT) Service, Extended Triage and HOPE (Suicide Prevention), Mobile Support and Treatment (MST) and Homeless Outreach (CHOPS) services.
