Overview:

Acts as servicer for M&T Bank’s Hardest Hit Fund accounts, which generate 500K+ recoveries for the bank.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Handle the processing of MI Claim requests for the appropriate MI Company.
  • Responsible for the accurate completion of REO Payee Header requests, Foreclosure Evaluations, and Mortgage/Consumer check processing.
  • Initiate and complete the state demand letter process for assigned states including the appropriate registration procedure.
  • Review and manage Hardest Hit Fund State Program requests.  Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, track the completion of mandatory state reporting, and review amendments for Servicer Participation Agreements.
  • Provide Branch support for offsets, unsatisfied accounts, and account reconciliations. General ledger balancing for unsatisfied accounts.
  • Management of MI Claim daily work flow including the processing of urgent requests and aged task reconciliation.
  • Responsible for the processing of manual check requests including daily quality control and check log reconciliation.
  • Identify and resolve problematic situations when appropriate referring more complex problems to Supervisor for review.
  • Occasionally review work of peers.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position interacts mainly with internal CAM departments.

Education and Experience Required:

A combined 3 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 year office experience or mortgage collections experience.

Proficient PC skills including word processing, spreadsheet and email software.
Strong communication and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and flexibility to support multiple business lines.

Motivated team player with a positive and friendly attitude.

Strong analytical abilities and problem solving.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel.

Education and Experience Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree.

One year of accounting experience.

Two years legal document processing or foreclosure experience.

Demonstrated ability to provide direction and lead others.

Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and Bank policy for all states that the Bank conducts business in.

Notary Public (as required by department needs) preferred.

Knowledge of M&T Bank systems.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $18.57 - $30.95 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
