An internship with The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago is not like your average internship. We can offer you a dynamic, collaborative and team-focused environment you won’t find anywhere else. You’ll be engaged in projects that will provide you with real world, hands-on experience in the exciting world of banking and financial services. We are currently seeking a summer intern to work in our Sales, Strategy and Solutions department. Successful individuals should be following an academic track in Business, Finance, or Economics.

What you'll do:

  • Assist the team execute on the Bank’s strategic plan by identifying new opportunities for business growth 
  • Analyze large amounts of data, summarizing results for the sales team and senior management 
  • Leverage analytical tools, such as Excel and Tableau, to design and create dashboards and reports on members/clients, market data, and product usage trends 
  • Perform research and help interpret economic indicators, market trends, and financial and mortgage markets to assist the team in identifying business opportunities, preparing various presentations, and analyzing member/client behavior trends 
  • Collaboration with other teams on projects where new technology and new data standards are introduced 
  • Help create and further maintain advanced mapping analytics in Tableau, illustrating eligibility and further impact of FHLBank Chicago and our members/clients
  • Internship group project
  • Network with fellow interns and management within the department/company

  • Drive Strategic Growth: By identifying new business opportunities and analyzing market trends, you will directly contribute to the Bank’s strategic initiatives, helping to shape the future direction of the organization.
  • Enhance Decision-Making: Your work in creating detailed dashboards and reports using advanced analytical tools will provide critical insights to senior management and the sales team, enabling data-driven decisions that optimize performance and client satisfaction.
  • Foster Innovation and Collaboration: Through collaboration on projects involving new technology and data standards, you will play a key role in advancing the Bank’s technological capabilities and fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants should be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited institution
  • Should have a GPA of at least 3.0 and be in good academic standing
  • Desired fields of study include Finance, Economics, or Business
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Tableau experience a plus, or interest in learning 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (SCHOOL YEAR):

  • This position works a maximum of 19 hours per week. 
  • This position is expected to work on-site at least one day per week (ideally Tuesday or Thursday)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (SUMMER):

  • This position works a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week. 
  • This position is expected to work on-site Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday.
