Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  • Assists customers who need help with pay-at-the-pump transaction and, if appropriate, helps fill vehicles with fuel. Operates cash register and performs related check out procedures, including providing receipts and bagging any purchased merchandise. Responsible for keeping receipt tapes in each dispenser full.
  • Responsible for inventory of fuel, vehicle accessories, and various other products. Responsible for all funds collected including cash, checks, debit and credit slips. Maintains proper security measures and cash drawer accounting procedures, avoiding excessive overages and/or shortages. May interact with gas station POS vendor to correct problems with POS system, dispensers, and/or the tank monitoring system. Help set up displays or promotional materials.
  • Smiles and greets customers, answers customer questions and helps resolve customer concerns promptly, in a polite and professional manner. Follows company policies relating to customer check out to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Keeps informed of weekly ads or specials to answer any customer questions and assure accuracy in ringing up other merchandise. May distribute special customer coupons.
  • Responsible for general sanitation in the department. Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements. Disposes of trash properly.
  • Remains alert to safety issues around the station, pays particular attention to slip and fall hazards at the fuel pumps and dangers of working around combustibles.
  • Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Responsible to continuously improve job performance.
  • Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). Including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc.
  • Performs other staff duties as required. May also be called upon to assist in other departments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or experience completed or working towards a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). No prior experience required.
