At Disney Animation, we’re a creative studio powered by a team of makers, developers, and designers who rely on simple, fast, and reliable tools. Our internal Helpdesk team is here to keep things running, and always looking for smarter ways to solve recurring challenges.
We’re looking for a System Administrator Intern who is comfortable in a Mac and Linux environment, passionate about user support, and interested in discovering tools that improve how support flows. This role is a mix of hands-on help desk experience and project-based development, with room to explore technical solutions that reduce friction for users and our IT team alike.
Project Includes:
You’ll start by getting to know our environment, our team, and our support patterns, then shift toward helping us design and prototype smarter support tools based on what you’ve learned.
Day-to-Day Support:
● Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for our Mac and Linux-based studio environment.
● Help with onboarding/offboarding, software installs, account management, and user troubleshooting.
● Document technical issues, recurring questions, and internal processes. Support internal IT systems and assist with monitoring and maintenance.
Project Work:
● Analyze support trends to identify repetitive and time-consuming workflows.
● Collaborate with the IT team to help design lightweight tools or solutions to streamline support.
● Prototype and test user-facing tools that improve internal support (e.g., knowledge surfacing, ticket triage aids, self-service resources).
● Use your technical background (e.g., scripting, web dev, or coursework in
automation or machine learning) to explore ways to make support faster and
more scalable.
Key Qualifications:
● Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related program.
● Strong interest in systems and customer support, especially in creative or technical
environments.
● Experience with macOS and Linux environments, including command-line
familiarity.
● Comfort with scripting or basic programming (e.g., Python, Bash, or Shell).
● Curiosity about how systems can scale, and how small tools can have a big
impact.
● Good grasp of emerging technologies (AI, ML)
Bonus Qualifications:
● Have experience building bots, automations, or small web tools (even as side projects or
in school).
● Have worked with APIs or integrations between platforms.
● Familiarity with ticketing systems (ie: Jira)
● Enjoy solving problems at both the technical and user-experience level.
