Manager Supply Chain Planning

The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN has an opening for a Manager Supply Chain Planning. Primary responsibilities are to provide leadership, develop strategies and manage the execution of all Engineered Value Chain (EVC), Sourcing, NPI, Capital and key Supply Chain Strategy activities. Responsible for facility performance levels to corporate targets for inventory plans, inventory turns and improved order-to-delivery results. Supports facility efforts to develop and implement the Plan for Every Part, Pull material Replenishment and improved throughput efficiency. Leads facility efforts to implement and monitor compliance for supply chain processes aligned with the CPS Supply Chain Process Manual and the CPS Supply Chain Rules.

What you will do:

  • This role will utilize strong analytical skills and business acumen to provide continuous improvement within the Value Chain.  Responsible for supply chain modeling, optimization and simulation software and tools (Supply Chain Guru, Data Guru, Power BI,etc).
  • Incumbent is accountable to facility leadership and governing committees to achieve corporate supply chain performance targets focused on inventory reduction, increased inventory turns and improved order-to-delivery results. 
  • This position provides input to the facility Supply Chain Manager to support business division strategy development and target setting.    
  • The incumbent leads and manages a team responsible for facility deployment of the Supply Chain Planning Process, which develops the Plan for Every Part and Pull Replenishment methods for a facility, coordinating and managing the structure and work plans for multiple, cross functional work teams.  
  • This role leads efforts which require the ability to work effectively with facility leaders and governing committees comprised of diverse, multi-functional leaders.    
  • Incumbent is responsible for leading collaboration and communications across multiple facility functions, in order to effectively deploy lean material flow plans for a facility, which may include implementing changes to factor floor layout and material presentation to the point of use.
  • Incumbent works closely with the facility Supply Chain Manager to deploy strategic supply chain initiatives and is required to take a facility-wide view of supply chain planning processes and tools.  This role utilizes thorough knowledge and experience with the deployment of pull material strategies and related software applications.   
  • This role leads facility activities focused on delivering a Plan for Every Part for Sourcing and NPI activities.  Incumbent is responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the Supply Chain Planning Process for the facility, including standard work, development of the PFEP, data maintenance and usage of PFEP data to drive results.
  • This position utilizes advanced understanding of supply chain best practices, including operational efficiencies from the source of supply to the facility point of use.  This role will involve collaborating and negotiating with leaders across multiple functions and may include leading personnel from outside incumbent's business division, such as Global Purchasing, Global Information Services, Manufacturing / Operations, Global Transportation, Manufacturing Logistics and Product Engineering.  
  • This position governs and supports supply chain teams working with multi-functional leaders and teams, both in and outside of the facility, that may include external suppliers or third party-providers, to design and implement business improvements.   
  • This role requires advanced collaboration, communication and negotiation skills, as well as advanced business acumen to lead and support supply chain initiatives and deployments.
  • This position leads efforts to identify and resolve facility supply chain constraints, which requires the ability to work across cross-functional areas and collaborate and negotiate complex solutions.  Incumbent drives communications, root cause corrective action and ultimate resolution of supply chain constraints.
  • Incumbent provides leadership, coaching, focus, motivation and encouragement to direct reports.  Responsible for coaching, developing and mentoring resources.  Incumbent is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of direct reports, including development, capability building and succession planning.  
  • Incumbent is accountable for NPI program performance against corporate supply chain performance targets, including improvements in Order-to-Delivery time, inventory levels / turns, supply chain assessments and overall supply chain performance for a facility.
  • Experience in the development and deployment of Supply Chain processes is preferred.
  • Experience with the CPS RIW and Value Stream Transformation process.
  • A background in Supply Chain, Manufacturing / Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Inventory Management, Material Requirements Planning, Demand Management, Logistics or Product Engineering is highly desired.


Education:

  • 4 year College or University degree is required.

  • NPI program management experience
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to creatively solve very complex problems.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of lean concepts and tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of CPS and lean supply chain principles, specifically those applied to pull replenishment using material replenishment tools and processes, material flow, packaging and containerization, the corporate NPI process, facility product and engineering change control processes and throughput efficiency.
  • Advanced understanding of supply chain planning processes, analytical tools and software.
  • Product Engineering experience, including project leadership and execution.
  • Advanced understanding of common supply chain systems, and the ability to lead and sponsor large-scale technology transformations.
  • Knowledge of 6 Sigma Project Management principles.
  • Excellent leadership skills to effectively sponsor supply chain improvements making the best use of available resources, while maintaining strong people focus and fulfilling the responsibilities for leading people.
  • Extremely strong collaborative, interpersonal and negotiation skills in order to drive common supply chain processes across multiple departments within a facility.
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures and solid product knowledge.
  • APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification is beneficial.

Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Extensive Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability.

Supplier Management - MFG: Extensive Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

Inventory Management: Working Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products.

Logistics Management: Working Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.
