The Role

The Regional Quality System Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) across the region. This role drives risk reduction initiatives, leads regional quality strategy execution, and ensures compliance with customer, regulatory, and OEM requirements.

As the Product Safety Representative, this position plays a critical role in protecting customer interests, maintaining certifications, and strengthening operational performance across manufacturing plants and distribution centers.

What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)

Quality Strategy & Regional Performance

  • Develop and execute the regional quality strategy aligned with business and operational targets.
  • Analyze KPIs (PPM, Scrap, COPQ, audits, customer satisfaction, warranties) and implement action plans to improve performance.
  • Lead crisis committees (task forces) for plants with critical quality indicators.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements and automotive OEM standards.

Quality Management System & Compliance

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, ISO standards (ISO 19011 / ISO 17021), and applicable certifications (INMETRO, ANCE, INTI, etc.).
  • Coordinate and lead external audits across plants and distribution centers in Mexico.
  • Act as Lead Auditor for IATF and VDA 6.3 systems.
  • Oversee closure of non-conformities and corrective action replication across the region.
  • Manage LPA audit findings and ensure timely resolution.

Continuous Improvement & Risk Reduction

  • Drive systemic corrective and preventive actions using 8D methodology.
  • Lead cross-functional implementation of lessons learned across all sites.
  • Identify tactical and developmental needs within regional quality teams.
  • Implement plant-level improvement plans and standardize best practices.

Document & Change Management

  • Administer Quality Management System documentation and Master Web systems.
  • Review and approve administrative changes via E-CACI (CAPE’s) and SAP Change Orders.
  • Ensure document control integrity and compliance.

Warranty & Customer Management

  • Manage the regional warranty function, ensuring systemic issue analysis across manufacturing plants.
  • Partner with customers and government entities to address quality and compliance matters.

Talent & Capability Development

  • Develop internal IATF/VDA 6.3 auditors (training delivery or coordination with external providers).
  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration between Plant Managers, Area Managers, and Directors.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering

Experience

  • 6 + years of experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong experience in the automotive industry, preferably with OEM customers.
  • Proven leadership experience managing regional quality systems.

Technical Expertise

  • IATF 16949 (Internal Auditor certified preferred).
  • Automotive Core Tools (PPAP, APQP, MSA, FMEA, SPC).
  • VDA 6.3 auditing.
  • ISO 19011 / ISO 17021 knowledge.
  • Quality Management Systems administration.
  • Battery/BCD manufacturing process knowledge preferred.
  • Advanced problem-solving methodologies.

Languages

  • English – 90% proficiency (advanced/business fluent required).

Work Model & Travel

  • Based in Mexico; relocation required.
  • Travel required across regional plants and distribution centers.
  • Availability to support rotating shifts when needed.
