We are seeking a talented individual based in Melbourne to join our team at Mercer Investments as a Fixed Income Manager Research Analyst. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Mercer Investments, the world’s leading Global Investment Consulting and OCIO firm, has an exciting opportunity for a fixed income researcher to join our dynamic global manager research group. We are looking for someone with a clear interest in fixed income investing. You will work within the manager research team in Mercer’s Singapore and Melbourne offices. You will actively contribute to the fixed income manager research effort across the Asia Pacific region, meeting with asset managers and helping to formulate views on their investment capabilities.

We will count on you to:

  • Coordinate with external investment management firms to undertake research on specific investment strategies

  • Support other members of the regional team in conducting due diligence meetings with investment management teams located in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand

  • Compose research documents outlining the strengths and weaknesses of a strategy and make recommendations based on research findings

  • Support the functioning of our internal ratings governance processes

  • Support views and recommendations with quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Collaborate with colleagues, challenging and working together to reach conclusions and meet client requirements

  • Contribute to ad hoc fixed income related research projects and assist the fixed income manager research team in achieving its objectives 

What you need to have:

  • 3-5 years of experience, ideally in an investments-related role

  • Understanding of fixed income investing

  • Strong written and oral communication, liaising at all levels

  • Developing technical skills and an understanding of statistical models

  • Attention to detail, good organisational skills with a proven work ethic

  • Prior report writing experience

  • Experience of working with/meeting with fixed income managers
