Job Description

Your Team

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Purchasing Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating costs, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring accurate material pricing for projects. You will work closely with procurement and project management teams to provide accurate cost estimates that support budgeting and decision-making. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and experience in purchasing and estimating within residential construction.

Your Key Deliverables

  • Analyze lumber, siding, cornice, and millwork materials needed for new plans and elevations.

  • Estimate exterior materials including brick, stucco, stone for new plans.

  • Upload material take offs into Newstar and updating estimates as needed.

  • Monthly lumber pricing and cost comparisons between vendors to ensure best pricing

  • Maintaining current purchase orders due to monthly lumber pricing and vendor changes. 

  • Sourcing competitive labor for construction.

  • Conduct field lumber drop audits on an as needed basis.

  • Assist in other purchasing functions as needed including but not limited to rebates, starts, and vendor sourcing.

Must Haves

  • A College or University degree in Business or Supply Chain Management

  • 1 - 3 years of related experience in estimating

  • Knowledge of and experience with general contract terms and conditions, familiarity with service delivery models

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • Demonstrated experience in managing suppliers and developing ongoing relationships

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong planning and organizing skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Nice to Haves

  • Bi-lingual English/ Fluent Spanish speaker
