- A valid driver’s license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off site location. If the incumbent uses their personal vehicle, the incumbent must maintain automobile liability coverage as required by law and evidence of such coverage may be requested. Required And
- Stationary Engineer License - Chicago or Elgin - within 6 months of start date
Preferred:
- Universal EPA Certification
- 3 Years of previous facilities/engineering experience
A Brief Overview:
Under minimal supervision, operates, maintains and repairs electrical, plumbing, tube system, fire alarm system and mechanical equipment within all Edward facilities such as compressors, boilers, air and water valves, oxygen and vacuum systems, roof top units, and emergency generators. Repairs, adjusts and regulates heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems within facilities. Maintains and repairs non-clinical electronic components such as television controls and nursing call systems. Performs related duties including ordering materials, assisting others in difficult and/or complex work, and maintaining documentation according to departments operating procedures.
What you will do:
- Repairs and conducts preventative maintenance of new and existing electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment within the facility.
- Selects appropriate tools, materials, and supplies, shuts down electrical circuits, water flow as appropriate. Repairs and maintains non-clinical electronic components such as the fire alarms systems, building utilities systems, water, steam, electrical, med gas, natural gas and compressed air systems. Notifies appropriate personnel of difficult and/or complex problems or situations.
- Notifies affected departments/staff whenever it becomes necessary to interrupt service to initiate emergency repair of equipment or facilities.
- Operates and maintains high pressure boilers, A/C chillers, cooling towers and related plant equipment. Performs proper chemistry tests at the start of assigned shift as appropriate. Ensures all work is accomplished in a professional manner.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment, heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment according to manufacturers' specifications.
- Performs major repairs on fan motors, HVAC equipment, plumbing equipment and plant equipment, piping and electrical systems.
- Monitors critical alarms via pager and facility management system as assigned. Responds to alarms, investigates source of alarms, repairs condition, calls vendor and communicates with Facilities leadership team.
- Records information into daily operating log.
- Requests materials and supplies as needed to support stock levels. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Completes and submits all work request forms, activity reports and miscellaneous forms necessary to maintain department specific record files.
- Identifies major problems, initiates corrective action, and reports situation to appropriate management personnel.
- Enters all critical alarms into the building log at the time the information is received. All other important situations should be logged at the time of occurrence.
- Makes log entries with date, time and signature for management review and sign off.
- Responds to code calls as appropriate.
- Offsite Engineers operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair Roof Top Units, Air handler Units, boilers, chillers and associated HVAC systems.
