LNG is a key component in the European and Global energy trade, and the LNG Desk is a dynamic and growing part of Centrica Energy's business trading physical LNG globally. 

Within this role you will be a key part of the IT team that works in partnership with the business to deliver their ambitious growth plans.  The team develop and maintain the existing ETRM platform, EOS, as well as driving through a programme of digitisation to provide world class tools to a world class trading organisation.

Working as the technical lead of the LNG development team, reporting to the Head of IT for LNG, you will be responsible for the technical delivery of system development.  You will own the software stack, application architecture and development processes, ensuring that the application remains performance and fit for purpose whilst conforming to Centrica Plc and Centrica Energy standards.

This is a London based (close to Marble Arch) role and we encourage hybrid working with 3 days in the office.

The Job role:

Planning

  • Work within a scrum framework, responsible for prioritizing and managing own workload and conflicting priorities

  • Responsible for the strategic development of the EOS technical platform, within the bounds of Centrica Architecture, security etc standards

  • Balance workload of the development team, both for allocation of project work, and management of the support schedule and processes.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Define, implement and enforce interface design and process standards which are consistent with wider IT standards and current best practice principals

  • Ownership of the software stack, application architecture and security, ensuring the system can be maintained, and meets current best practice and Centrica standards

  • Produce maintainable and supportable code

  • Work within Agile and DevOps delivery methodology.

Leadership and People Management

  • Technical Lead for the development team ensuring that quality and output targets are adhered to

  • Responsible for the technical delivery of changes to the EOS Application and associated interfaces and systems

  • Responsible for development team processes, including build pipelines, code reviews, definition and implementation of coding standards

  • Responsible for ensuring suitable testing and test coverage by maintaining and expanding Specflow and Nunit test packs

  • Proactively ensure development follows best industry practice

  • There are no direct reports in this role as the team maintains a flat structure.

The Person:

  • Experience of being part of a development team within a finance / trading organisation

  • Broad experience within Energy or Commodities Trading, with exposure to Front, Middle and Back Office, and a strong understand of the trade lifecycle

  • Experience with MTM valuation, exposure and greek calculations

  • Extensive experience working as a developer in the Microsoft technology stack (C#, .net, SQL, Azure)

  • Experienced practitioner of agile and scrum

Further technical:

  • Experience Infragistics components for WinForms

  • Experience working with Azure DevOps tools.

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Specflow / Gherkin.

  • Wide knowledge of existing and emerging technologies.
