This position will be responsible for receptionist coverage for the Marion campus with some possible Saturday coverage as needed for events.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reception duties:  provide information/directions to visitors and callers.  Assist students, faculty, and staff with reception requests.
  • Operate switchboard, fax equipment, and computer.
  • Direct student concerns to appropriate departments.  Schedule appointments as needed.
  • Provide clerical support and assist with activities as assigned.
  • Perform computer applications such as word processing, database, and desktop publishing.
  • Coordinate communication between daytime and evening faculty/staff.
  • Responsible for contacting Security for student and employee security concerns.  Follow College emergency procedures.
  • Serve as backup support for day receptionist or for special needs.
  • Organize areas such as front desk, employee lounge and copy room to prepare for next day’s operation.  Responsible each evening before leaving to replenish paper in copy machines and fax machine.
  • Inspect all bulletin boards for inappropriate or outdated material.  Post new bulletins as authorized.  Monthly update/decorate employee lounge bulletin board.
  • Handle confidential information in appropriate manner.
  • Assist faculty and staff with copy jobs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be responsible and dependable with a flexible time schedule.
  • Knowledge of switchboard operation and proper telephone etiquette preferred.
  • A willingness to learn new computer skills and ability to communicate both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicable college education preferred and/or job training.
  • Associate Degree’s and over two (2) years of related experience
