Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways;
- This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey level position;
- Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise;
- Normally receive little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments;
- Evaluate, analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot technical equipment problems related to installation;
- Can repair issues using standard procedures or innovate to resolve system level problems which can have multiple causes;
- Troubleshooting and repairs of complex system level problems are based on IE3's technical knowledge, education and training;
- Help from Staff Engrs and Management when problems occur that may exceed knowledge, education and training;
- Prepare field service reports and daily passdowns on Installation progress and non-conformances;
- Contribute to post-activity Quality Feedback Report;
- Obtain all necessary international travel documents and manages their personal lives to be ready to travel for extended periods;
- Manage personal finances to prevent disruption to scheduled activities - even when traveling for extended periods;
- Travels domestically and internationally by commercial transportation to customer sites. Assists junior engineers as necessary;
- Provides guidance and technical assistance at customer sites;
- Can develop basic POAs. Provides phone and on-site support for junior engineers;
- The nature of work requires that IE's work and travel independently;
- Work independently and only occasionally require guidance from Management;
- It is expected that IE3's exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies;
- Required to update management on a daily basis thru progress pass downs and service reports;
- IE's spend most of their time at customer sites installing new tools;
- Required to work 6 day workweeks with high amounts of overtime;
- Move from one activity to another without returning to the home office;
- Travel is often across international borders and the IE often travels alone.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (ASET minimum degree plus 3 years direct work experience). Experience in supporting comparable capital equipment for the semiconductor industry is required;
- Analytical skills;
- Mechanical aptitude;
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot problems in software and electronics, optics, mechanical, electro-mechanical and electro-optical systems;
- Knowledge of computer theory, various operating systems and applicable operating system software knowledge, Networking in a Windows, Unix or Novell environment;
- Basic automation functionality on assigned equipment set;
- Must successfully complete required and ongoing technical training to acquire a thorough knowledge of company equipment; including installation procedures and the application of diagnostic techniques and practical application of service aids;
- Competent with the MS Office suite of applications;
- Attain and maintain Installation Certification Level 3 - Proficiency in complete product installation, upgrade, and system level repair of a product within a family is required;
- Semiconductor industry process knowledge, required to take the KT class for Introduction to semiconductor processes;
- Good interpersonal/communication skills in understanding customer needs. Ability to work under pressure and stringent timelines since Installation cycle times are committed to customers and may impact customer production;
- Basic Application skills including troubleshooting of standard recipe issues;
- IE3 can perform model change upgrades to fielded systems using defined procedures and under the guidance of more senior engineers.

Master's Level Degree and 0 years related work experience; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 2 years
