About the Role

This role will be mainly based in Columbus, Ohio.

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Leader with expertise in Microsoft Purview to lead our data governance initiatives and provide strategic guidance to our clients.

As the Data Governance Leader, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, focusing on data quality, compliance and metadata management. You will leverage your experience with Microsoft Purview to ensure clients' data governance practices are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. This role requires a combination of strategic leadership, technical expertise and client-facing communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies and processes across client organizations
  • Utilize Microsoft Purview to manage and enhance data governance, including data cataloging, classification, lineage and data lifecycle management
  • Develop and enforce data standards, policies and practices to ensure data accuracy, security and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with data stewards, data owners and business stakeholders to establish data governance roles, responsibilities and data stewardship processes
  • Provide strategic recommendations to clients for improving data governance maturity and driving data-driven decision-making
  • Monitor and report on data governance metrics, compliance status and data quality improvements
  • Conduct data governance assessments and audits to ensure adherence to policies and identify areas for improvement
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and regulatory changes that impact data governance

About You

Experience:

  • Experience in a consulting environment is a plus, with demonstrated success in client-facing roles
  • Extensive experience in data governance, data management, or data strategy roles
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Purview, including hands-on expertise in implementing data governance and compliance frameworks using the platform
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and industry standards for data governance
  • Experience working with metadata management, data catalogs, data lineage and data classification
  • Excellent leadership, project management and organizational skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into business value for clients

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with cloud data governance tools beyond Microsoft Purview, such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Snowflake
  • Experience in data governance maturity assessments and frameworks like DAMA DMBOK
  • Data Governance and Data Management certifications (e.g., DGSP, CDMP) are a plus
