Main Purpose of Job

Analyst/Event Accountant will be the key contact reporting the performance of multiple events and assisting in the event closeout process.

The candidate must have a pro-active and adaptive approach to work as well as a willingness and interest in understanding the nature of the business and the many factors affecting it.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • The role will support the Finance/Accounting Manager:
    • Partner with P&L lead and Operations teams to support event finances.
    • Support the P&L lead of each assigned event to ensure they have clear and concise information for decision making.
    • Conduct quantitative analysis of operational and financial data, including monthly financial analysis, ongoing event projections, reforecasting, variance analysis, channel planning and product analysis.
    • Identify, consolidate, and manage reporting data from multiple sources.
    • Provide weekly variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year
    • Support budget and forecast builds by summarizing actuals as a baseline to inform strategic planning discussions
    • Flag potential risks and opportunities as necessary
    • Perform month-end close activities, including but not limited to:
      • Ensure the month end P&L and balance sheet are in line with forecast.
      • Provide commentary to any variance to forecast.
      • Coordinate with Operations to ensure appropriate Event Accruals are accounted for in compliance with GAAP standards.
      • Ensure accuracy of accounting coding to report on actuals efficiently.
    • Ensure weekly cash flow requests are accurate, complete, and communicated to management appropriately.
    • Complete weekly ad hoc reports/projects as required.
  • Will be occasionally required to work outside of standard working hours or on weekends at events

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge and Experience

Mandatory  

  • Advanced Microsoft Office experience, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Strong experience in accounting, finance & budgeting

Desirable

  • Event experience
  • SAP accounting software knowledge
  • CPA

Qualifications and Training

Mandatory 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience required

Desirable

  • 1-2 years of relevant, professional experience
  • Ideal background experience includes but is not limited to consulting, corporate FP+A, or accounting in the live event/media industry
