The Gas Supply Planning and Upstream Regulation team is responsible for developing the portfolio of natural gas supply, storage, and transportation for Enbridge Gas Inc.’s (EGI’s) 3.9 million customers. In this role, you will support the development and implementation of a long-term upstream regulatory strategy to positively influence and attain win-win outcomes that benefit EGI customers in Ontario. This role has a significant external focus and requires representation of EGI with EGI customers, external industry associations and regulators, involving significant collaboration, negotiation and relationship management.

This position provides an opportunity to develop natural gas commercial and market expertise as well as a view to the greater organizational strategy and support for regulatory strategy.

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for supporting the development of EGI regulatory and commercial strategy for various regulatory proceedings and gas supply developments affecting EGI that relate to upstream pipelines and gas supply development in Canada and the U.S. Likewise, responsible for monitoring, summarizing and evaluating the impacts of these issues.

  • Support potential regulatory proceedings at the Canada Energy Regulator for EGI including evidence development, consultant engagement, witness preparation, interrogatory responses and argument.

  • Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with external companies and other organizations in the process of negotiating agreements beneficial to EGI.

  • Maintain a close working relationship with key internal clients across Energy Services and other departments to communicate upstream regulatory developments and develop / implement strategies beneficial to EGI.

  • Participate in the TransCanada Energy Tolls Task Force and other regulatory working groups as required to ensure EGI’s interests are represented. 

Who You Are:

  • A related university degree (Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or Finance) or an equivalent combination of formal education and related experience.

  • A minimum of 4 years of progressive related experience in the energy, utility, or related business or modelling experience.

  • Solid understanding of regulatory, energy markets, public policy and/or commercial/finance.

  • A strategic mentality, ability to influence senior leadership and coordinate with cross functional leaders across different groups.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office working conditions with overtime during peak periods.

  • Travel required up to 25%.

  • This role requires occasional response to after-hours calls as required.
