Responsible for providing guidance and advisory on risks and controls as a first line risk representatives for AIA Australia’s Life Insurance business (Group Insurance). Join our Line 1 Risk team in Sydney or Melbourne on a 12 month max term contract.

The opportunity:

We currently have an opportunity available for a Group Risk and Compliance Specialist to join our Line 1 Risk team in Sydney or Melbourne on a 12 month max term contract. Within this role you will act as a subject matter expert and play a critical role in first line risk for our AIA Australia Group Insurance business.

You will work as part of a team to implement AIA’s framework for identifying, monitoring and mitigating risk and for complying with obligations to customers, regulators and key stakeholders within the business. The successful incumbent will work closely with Group Product Pricing, Distribution and Administration teams as well as our Enterprise Risk and Compliance team (Line 2 Risk).

To do this successfully you will:

  • Assist with the Third-Party Administrator (TPA) planning, coordinating and drafting of key reporting
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Group Insurance business including within distribution and product
  • Support in the delivery of Risk and Compliance plans for Life Insurance
  • Assist the Life Insurance Business Unit to manage risks daily, develop and implement controls and to test whether these controls are effective
  • Monitor the risk profile to identify, understand, escalate and report on issues, incidents and changes in the business
  • Provide support to understand and mitigate the risks of change from projects and other initiatives (Risk in Change)
  • Support the business in conducting thorough root cause analysis of issues and incidents and monitor close out and embedding of sustainable actions
  • Support the development of a proactive risk culture where business leaders demonstrate risk ownership

Successful applications will demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of either the life insurance industry or specific experience working within a risk and compliance role
  • Experience working in financial services in an audit or risk analysis function would be highly regarded
  • Proven track record of identifying, managing and mitigating risks in a financial service environment
  • Knowledge of risk and compliance frameworks, methodologies and approaches
  • Project Implementation experience or knowledge
  • Proven ability to work as part of a broader team and to build strong working relationships across various business units
