The IT Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire development and implementation process of computer-based systems, projects, or programs. They lead cross-functional teams in delivering high-quality systems to both internal and external customers. The project manager acts as a central point of contact for projects, guiding them from initial concept to final implementation, and collaborating with various stakeholders such as end users, computer services, and client services. They coordinate all project aspects and facilitate communication between clients, systems, line management, and other departments. Key responsibilities include setting expectations, finding efficient customer solutions, managing project team members, meeting milestones, controlling project scope, and ensuring timely delivery of project outcomes.

The project manager also plays a crucial role in gathering and documenting business requirements, defining project scope and objectives, and creating detailed project plans and timelines. They proactively address project-related issues and develop effective solutions to meet productivity, quality, and client satisfaction goals. Additionally, they create and manage work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, budgets, and status reports. They are responsible for overseeing vendor tasks, ensuring their integration into the project, and reviewing vendor deliverables. The project manager reports to the US Oncology Project Management Office (PMO) and upholds the standards and principles of the US Oncology Compliance Program, which includes the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizes a wide range of skills and knowledge to deliver effective and innovative solutions to complex problems across diverse scenarios.
  • Demonstrates exceptional judgement and decision-making skills within the framework of established policies and practices.
  • Contribute to the outcomes of the Practice and Provider Services portfolio by staying up to date with industry trends and incorporating them into projects as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the IT strategy by developing proposals that consider cost, solution selection, and business drivers, using provided templates to align with regional or market strategic goals.
  • Provide IT leadership to ensure timely and successful delivery of practice projects within budget, while meeting scope and quality expectations.
  • Maintain the assigned project portfolio by updating project health details and storing all required project artifacts in the PMO documentation repository.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office and support the enhancement of the project management methodology.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in IT project management, requirements definition, building systems solutions and/ or deployment of business requirements to information systems
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Critical Skills:

  • Project management experience in a technical/IT environment with software application, construction and infrastructure-style projects
  • Ability to manage multiple short and long-term projects toward effective solutions and according to budget and timelines
  • Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams (onsite, remote, and third-party resources)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills to various levels of the organization (staff to executive)
  • Experience using SDLC and/or agile project methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project and MS Visio, Jira and Planview

Additional Knowledge/Skills

  • Healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, highly preferred
  • Process improvement experience (Six Sigma or Lean certification a plus)
  • Agile and/or Scrum certification or equivalent experience a plus
  • Knowledge of ITIL foundations principals and methodology (ITIL certifications a plus)
  • Working knowledge of contract negotiations, resource capacity planning and budget forecasting

Education:

  • 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience

Travel

  • Up to 30% travel required

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$93,800 - $156,300
