Job Description:

SVP, Talent

The SVP, Talent is responsible for leading Discover’s HR Talent Management functions which includes Talent Acquisition, Succession Planning, Talent and Performance Management, Leadership Development, HR Communications, Candidate Brand, and Organizational Effectiveness. This leader will play a critical role in developing and implementing talent strategies that align with our organization’s goals and objectives. They will be responsible for developing and retaining top talent, as well as fostering a positive and engaging culture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in organizational development, a deep understanding of HR practices and the ability to effectively lead, partner and drive change within a dynamic organization.

This leader will partner with Discover’s senior leaders and HR team, demonstrate behaviors that foster a culture of inclusion and promote a positive work environment in alignment with Discover’s culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, management, oversight, and development for Discover’s talent practice. Manage and mentors the human resource team to be the stewards and experts of Discover’s HR policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Drive Discover’s people strategies to create a pool of mobile and ‘ready now’ talent by aligning development to organizational needs, core competencies and leadership behaviors necessary to meet business objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of company-wide performance management and succession-planning programs.
  • Create and execute a candidate brand strategy that aligns with Discover's goals and culture.
  • Design and deliver management and executive development through technical training, systems training, product owners.
  • Conduct organizational assessments and diagnostics to identify gaps, issues, and opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness, processes, and overall health.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and best practices to inform the design, development and delivery of a cohesive talent strategy that utilizes all the HR levers (selection, diversity, job design, training, compensation, recognition).
  • Provide strategic advice and leadership in planning, implementing, and maintaining the human resource policies, procedures, systems, and programs to support the company’s operations and business goals
  • Partner with Legal, Risk, Audit to ensure policies and practices comply with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and are administered consistently throughout the company.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, people management or related field      
  • Bachelors, Human Resources, Business Administration and Management (i.e., Financial Analyst, AML, Customer Service, Management)
  • Masters, Human Resources/Industrial Organizational Psychology, Business Administration and Management, Preferred
