The Summer Temp position assists the University Events Office with both LU internal events and external events, as well as Summer Camp programs. This could include working on-site at these events, providing event support to event coordinators, supporting University service personnel with events, as well as helping with organizing & planning for these events. The Summer Temp position also assists with organizing camp cards, emailing resource teams updates for camps, dining hall monitoring, checking facilities, and assisting camp directors & campers with common camp issues.

As well as being in the field at events, office work is required and may include making phone calls, sending emails, scheduling events in 25Live, and other office related tasks.

The position will require some lifting and moving small materials as well.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide support, information, and guidance in the process of scheduling and planning internal & external events in Liberty University facility. Assist with scheduling all departmental & summer camps. Scheduling, logistical planning and special coordination for all summer events, including summer camps and conference, weddings, graduations, and all summer events. Work onsite in event venues to oversee policies & ensure that the event runs smoothly. Perform office tasks such as answering phones, sending emails, creating spreadsheets, updating online software, and organizing materials. Help enforce University policies and standards for summer events and conference Help develop standard operational procedures for the University Events Office. Promote an atmosphere of professionalism and outstanding customer service in accordance with the Liberty Way. Complete special projects as assigned. Remains abreast of all events held on campus. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

Working toward a four-year degree in business or marketing or equivalent professional work experience required. Well-developed interpersonal communications skills and familiar with standard Microsoft Office computer software. High school diploma or equivalent GED required.

  • Completion of two years of undergraduate study in business, sports, or event management preferred

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is within merchant business environment and climate-controlled office setting.  It is well lit and the noise level is moderate. 

Driving Requirements

If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel.  Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
