Leidos is seeking a Master Control Operator who will be responsible for monitoring and managing the quality of broadcast signals on air, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and coordinating with center-based Video Operations teams to maintain a smooth broadcast flow. The Master Control Operator will oversee the transmission of programming, recording of programs, and adjust video and audio levels, acting as the central hub for ensuring a NASA’s on-air content is accurate and delivered on time.

Primary Responsibilities:
Monitoring broadcast signals: Continuously observe live and recorded programs on air to check for quality issues like picture quality, audio levels, and proper transitions.
Program scheduling and logging: Set up and schedule program air times, including pre-show tests, according to the program log.
Ingesting media: Receive and manage media from various sources like streaming feeds, satellite feeds, cable networks, and studio productions.
Troubleshooting equipment: Identify and resolve technical issues with broadcast equipment to maintain a stable transmission.
Compliance with regulations: Adhere to FCC guidelines regarding content, signal strength, and station identification.
Communication with other departments: Collaborate with production teams, OCOMM, and newsrooms to coordinate broadcast elements.
Recording programs: Capture live broadcasts or scheduled programs for future use.
Emergency procedures: Respond to unexpected situations like technical failures or breaking news with appropriate actions.
This position may require shift work, including nights and weekends.
Basic Qualifications:
Technical knowledge: Understanding of broadcast equipment, video formats, audio mixing, and transmission protocols.
Attention to detail: Ability to closely monitor multiple screens and identify minor errors in broadcast quality.
Problem-solving skills: Quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure.
Time management: Efficiently manage program schedules and adhere to strict deadlines.
Communication skills: Clear communication with colleagues in different departments to coordinate broadcast elements.
Preferred Qualifications:
FCC Level 1 license
Education:
Bachelor with 3 years of experience; experience may be considered in lieu of education
