About This Internship

Arch’s 10-week summer internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in the insurance industry. It provides challenging learning experiences that serve as a foundation for interns to explore their career choices and to develop professional skills. Working alongside some of the most talented members of the specialty insurance industry, interns will gain relevant expertise in various aspects of the field, participate in learning activities and receive ongoing feedback.

About This Role

  • Assist Mortgage Insurance Products and Services (MIPS) team to provide robust and efficient business functions and applications to process Mortgage Insurance information including pricing, eligibility, evaluations and decisions.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainable software solutions using various technologies stacks to enable business operations that serve multiple product teams across the IT organization.

  • Participate in product oriented agile development environment, including learning the methodology.

  • Participate in the AGILE backlog grooming sessions to discuss and analyze the requirements and determine the technical approach.

  • Refer to the existing design documents with the assistance of the lead developers. 

  • Understand the implementation of RESTFul services which are built upon Spring Framework and perform assigned tasks.

  • Develop test cases to improve code coverage by applying appropriate supporting APIs such as JUnit, and mock frameworks.

  • Perform software development using Java, Springboot and Angular. Utilize complete CI/CD process to build and deploy.  

  • Perform end to end development activities including testing, debugging and continuous integration of software products.

Qualifications

  • Actively completing area of study in Management of Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security Degrees or relevant program.

  • Experience in JAVA programming language and software development.

  • Strong understanding of SQL server relational database concepts.

  • Experience with technologies including RedHat OpenShift platform, JAVA Spring boot framework, Angular UI, TypeScript, CSS, REST, Maven, Argo CD, Web applications and WEB services, and GitHub preferred.

  • Strong understanding of SQL server relational database concepts.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher. 

  • College level - current Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit along with the desire to be a continuous learner. 

  • Team player who collaborates effectively.

  • Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

Location & Work Arrangement 

  • The program dates are June 2 - August 8, 2025.

  • This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 2 days onsite and 3 days from home. 

  • This position is in Greensboro, NC.

Timeline 

Arch summer internship positions will be posted from August 2024 and will be unposted when filled.  

Pay   

For individuals assigned to or hired to work in Greensboro, NC, the hourly rate is $22-30 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future. Intern position is eligible for select Arch benefits.
