Hello ✨

We're HappyScribe, a 100% bootstrapped and profitable startup based in Barcelona. We're on a mission to help media teams, creators, and educators transcribe, dub, translate and subtitle smarter.

We're 22 people at the moment, and we're building the team thoughtfully and with a lot of care. How would you like to join us on this journey?

About the role…

We’re looking for a Freelance SEO Specialist (English Native) to help us build a consistent pipeline of optimized content and high-quality backlinks. If you’re a research-savvy SEO enthusiast eager to dive into the inner workings of a high-performing content engine, this is your moment.

You’ll play a key role in planning and writing content, publishing it faster, and promoting it with strategic link-building tactics.

This is a freelance opportunity to start, but with real potential to grow into a long-term position.

What you will do…

  • Support keyword and topic cluster research across HappyScribe’s core product areas.

  • Create SEO content briefs and articles aligned with our roadmap.

  • Help identify link-building opportunities through:

    • ABC link exchanges

    • Guest post outreach

    • Journalist and PR research (using tools or manual outreach)

  • Conduct performance tracking and surface optimization ideas.

What you will bring…

Must-haves:

  • 1–2 years of experience in an SEO, content, or marketing support role.

  • Knowledge of SEO principles (e.g., keyword intent, internal linking, meta data).

  • Comfortable using keyword tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Google Keyword Planner.

  • Strong research and organizational skills.

  • Native English fluency and great writing skills.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Familiarity with content briefs and writing outlines.

  • Experience doing outreach or link-building (email, forums or social).

  • Interest in media, subtitling, or language tech.

  • Familiarity with Notion, Google Sheets, or CMS platforms.

What we offer…

  • Flexible freelance setup, with a commitment of four days per week.

  • Remote setup.

  • The opportunity to evolve into a long-term, full-time role if it’s a strong match.

Company Culture

🤝 A company culture built on trust, autonomy, and independence

🍽️ We're remote-first, office-encouraged — We work asynchronously and with high trust, but value in-person collaboration for creativity and speed.

Have an impact on millions of people — Change how users and language professionals make transcriptions, translations and subtitles.

👫 Work with a small team of bright people — When we talk with most people, they have a hard time understanding how we got so far with so few people. Looking at this, we're close in ARR to a typical Series B company, but our ARR per employee is 10x the industry average.

⏱️Flexible working hours — Work on the schedule that makes you the most happy and productive. Here's more info.

🏰 Beautiful office in Gràcia — One of the best areas in Barcelona. Our offices are much more than just a place to work. We like to see them alive 24/7, filled with friends and creative activities. Want to organise a community event, a breakfast with other designers, developers, etc.? The place is yours. Take a sneak peek here.

🌏 International, English-speaking environment — We're building an international team and want to create an inclusive environment where anyone can feel at home.
