About the Department

Based in Frankfurt, the team consists of the Senior Accountant and a Financial Controller, both reporting to the Head of Finance. Together, the department is responsible for end‑to‑end accounting processes, audit coordination, tax support, and continuous process improvement. By maintaining strong internal controls, delivering high‑quality insights, and contributing to the smooth running of financial operations, the department plays a crucial role in enabling Aberdeen to meet its strategic goals, serve clients effectively, and support the company’s long-term growth across European markets.

About the Role

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of German entities within an international group; you will ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS and German GAAP (HGB) and act as a reliable partner for internal stakeholders, Group Finance, and external auditors. This role offers a solid mix of hands-on accounting, coordination, and process improvement in a professional and international working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under IFRS and HGB.
  • Responsibility for general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
  • Act as a contact person for external auditors and support audit activities.
  • Support in oversight of the accounting controls.
  • Support tax-related topics (e.g. corporate income tax, trade tax, VAT) in cooperation with internal Tax and external advisors.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification.
  • Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) or similar professional qualification is an advantage.
  • Several years of experience in financial accounting or audit (Big 4 experience is a plus).
  • Good knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP (HGB).
  • Understanding of German tax regulations, especially VAT.
  • Good German and English skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Fusion or similar) is desirable.
