About the FCA
The FCA regulates the conduct of 45,000 firms in the UK to ensure our financial markets are honest, fair and competitive. Follow this link to find out more About the FCA.
The Redress & Reporting Policy Department is looking for 3 talented Associates. The redress teams play a critical role by owning and advising across the FCA on the policy requirements which ensure that firms put things right for financial services consumers when things go wrong, whether that’s making a complaint or claiming compensation in the event a firm goes under owing redress liabilities.
Our key pieces of work at the moment include: delivering on the commitment to modernise the redress framework following the call for input announced by the Chancellor last November, the preparations of a possible consumer redress scheme and related interventions to manage a large scale redress event arising from motor finance, and the delivery of a comprehensive revamped complaints reporting system to improve the quality of data we receive from firms.
Are you interested in:
Improving coordination and sharing of data between the regulatory family to advance shared objectives and ensuring that redress and complaints data is available to inform FCA decision-making.
Helping to manage key relationships with the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
Working closely with other stakeholders in the business on a wide range of high-profile issues relating to consumer redress and/or compensation.
Providing advice to internal and external stakeholders on our compensation and/or dispute resolution rules.
Working on redress policy in relation to new jurisdictions.
What will you be doing?
Supporting delivery on high profile issues in the area of consumer redress, CMC policy and/or compensation, including:
Assisting with the development of policy proposals, including for public consultation and the communication of these proposals externally
Preparing high-quality policy papers for senior management and Board approval
Providing quality input, advice and support to supervisors, firms, consumers and trade and consumer bodies
Working across the FCA to help develop and maintain a coherent approach to consumer redress and/or compensation in the event of firm failure
Support the Oversight Committee and the Board in ensuring effective and robust oversight of FOS in line with our statutory duties
Ensure the FCA meets its MoU commitments in areas such as information sharing, ensuring our approaches are consistent and complementary wherever possible and that matters of mutual interest are discussed at appropriate levels of seniority
Supporting colleagues with access to data we receive from firms, FOS and FSCS and that this information is collected and disseminated efficiently
What will you get from the role?
An opportunity to be an important and integral part of a supportive team in a busy, friendly environment
An opportunity to build a strong network with a diverse mix of internal and external stakeholders – an excellent opportunity to strengthen your network
Expand your skills and gain valuable experience that will support your personal development and will help you develop and advance your career at the FCA
