Position: Software Engineer III

Location: 860 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086

Duties: Build large scale data pipelines using big data technologies such as ActiveMQ, Kafka, Hadoop, and NiFi. Work on Java and JEE programming with a focus on server-side components and NoSQL technologies such as Couchbase, Cassandra, and HBase. Work on real-time indexing pipelines, streaming analytics, and distributed machine learning infrastructure. Work on fast and flexible onboarding of internal customers using Concord and Ansible. Evaluate and fine-tune systems for speed, robustness, and cost efficiency by applying strong computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms. Utilize Configuration Inventory Management System (CIMS) to standardize and elevate the monitoring and alerting across Messaging products. Analyze and propose new functionality to enhance performance across cloud strategies for Messaging. Provide technical support and issues solving during playbook events, filed in backlog, and with backend teams. Provide guidance to small groups of two to three engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by proving pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a related field. Position does not require specific years of experience but requires listed skills.

Skills Required: Experience coding in object-oriented programming languages: Python and Java. Experience developing Java applications to connect using JMS as well as Apache ActiveMQ, and IBM MQ programs. Experience building applications and releasing using CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Docker tools. Experience streamlining the application development process using version control system: Git. Experience deploying and configuring applications in at least one of the following cloud computing platforms: Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services. Experience with log analysis using Splunk. Experience setting up Linux and cloud infrastructure including TCP/IP network, OSI model, DNS, load balancer, and firewall. Experience troubleshooting and debugging in large codebases. Experience with process automations using Linux/Unix shell and bash scripting. Experience setting up alerting and monitoring for applications including a server metrics dashboard for Grafana, Prometheus, and Dynatrace. Experience designing and implementing REST APIs with the Java Spring framework. Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or professional experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $117,000/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.   Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
