Role Summary 

This role leads Export Control & Sanctions compliance for the AMEC region. Level will be Director or Senior Manager, depending on experience. 

You act as the regional decisionmaker, fully accountable for regulatory interpretation and compliance outcomes. You ensure consistent, defensible application of U.S. and international regulations while enabling the business to operate in a complex geopolitical environment. 

Location: Austin, Texas (hybrid) 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Act as the primary decisionmaker for Export Control & Sanctions matters in the AMEC region 

  • Serve as the main interface to the business, providing clear and actionable guidance 

  • Own highrisk cases, exceptions, and regulator interactions 

  • Ensure consistent and defensible interpretation of U.S. EAR / BIS requirements 

  • Decide routine cases and escalate only complex, crossregional, or highrisk situations Operating Model & Collaboration 

  • Decision authority: You own regulatory interpretation and final decisions, and are accountable to the business and authorities 

  • Infrastructure & Strategy teams: Define policies, processes, tooling, and geopolitical direction — you align and provide input based on regional reality 

  • Operations teams (incl. KL): Prepare and execute cases — you provide decisions on escalations and ensure consistent application of rules 

  • Regional peers: Align on interpretation, ensure global consistency, and escalate only in case of conflict or enterprise risk 

Requirements 

  • 10–15+ years of experience in Export Controls and Sanctions 

  • Strong expertise in U.S. EAR / BIS 

  • Proven experience making decisions in complex, highrisk environments 

  • Ability to operate as a senior business partner and decision authority 

  • Strong judgment and stakeholder management
