Site Reliability Engineering Manager, Thomson Reuters Shared Services

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineering Manager to join our Shared Capability, Service Reliability and Operation group. We provide innovative working environment, team collaboration and an opportunity to build, operate and support scalable and reliable services, that underpin Thomson Reuters’ products. 

About the Role: 

In this opportunity as a Site Reliability Engineering Manager, you will: 

  • Be a Technical Leader: Implement best practices as knowledge expert in SRE methodology.  Promote & feed non-functional requirements into the product backlog, such as, but not limited to, observability, high availability, scalability, self-healing, observability, continuous delivery, security
  • Be a Project Leader: Strategically plan, design and implement Operations projects to deliver value to customers, managing multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Be an Efficient Stakeholder: Collaborate and engage with external and internal stakeholders such as product engineering, product owners, project management and support team in defining priority issues and refining processes. Act as point of contact in resolving stakeholder issues.
  • Be a Decision Maker: Make quick and effective data driven decisions, with good problem solving and analytical skills. 
  • Be Forwards Thinking: Focus on Continuous improvement and technical standards – drive improvements in productivity, monitoring, tooling and set industry best practices. 
  • Be A Point Of Contact: Act as the go to person for any production issue. Communicate effectively, manage mitigation, remediation, postmortem and implementation of the learnings.
  • On-Call Rotation: Manage a proper on-call/shift rotations (L2), participate at times and act as an escalation point.
  • Be Innovative and Curious: 
    • Maintain end-to-end security ensuring that we meet best practices standards.
    • Keep up-to-date with emerging cloud technology trends, especially around DevOps, Service Reliability and Security. 
    • Adopt TR operation principles to ensure consistency and efficiency.
    • Document “tribal” knowledge. Constant upkeep of documentation and runbooks can ensure that teams get the information they need right when they need it.

About You:

You're a fit for the role Site Reliability Engineering Manager, if you have: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field 
  • 8+ Years of Experience in Site Reliability Engineering
  • 2+ Years of Experience as a Team Lead
  • Have expertise in driving technology strategy and execution, while establishing strategic partnerships and delivering against product requirements.
  • Are an effective communicator with relevant experience leading and influencing others, demonstrating an ability to partner effectively with internal and external partners. 
  • Possess strong knowledge of current site reliability engineering technologies in the following areas: Kubernetes, Automation, DevOps, Cloud Native Architecture, and System Monitoring.
  • Are highly skilled in Unix/Linux.
  • Proven experience in building and operating cloud native infrastructure, applications, and services on AWS using the following technologies: EKS, Cloud Front, Threat Detection, Compute (ECS/EC2/Fargate, etc.)
  • Proven experience in building, operating, and supporting cloud native Production systems
  • Must have experience with connecting Version Control and CI/CD systems (Git/CodePipeline/ArgoCD). 
  • Must have experience with writing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform / CloudFormation)
  • Must have scripting and programming experience (Bash,/PowerShell/Python) 
  • Experience or knowledge of Distributed logging: DataDog, CloudWatch, ELK
  • Must have experience participating in and developing on-call rotation.
  • Must be a team player with a can-do attitude.
