Position Summary

Performs duties related to patient care such as initiating and terminating dialysis treatments, performing phlebotomy, maintaining records and responding to needs of patients that are treated in the outpatient dialysis setting.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Arranges and maintains equipment and supplies for performance of dialysis and other procedures, including preparation of Dialysate solutions.

  • Performs cannulation, initiates, monitors and discontinues dialysis treatment.

  • Observes and monitors patient vital signs and significant dialysis treatment parameters; assesses patient signs and symptoms and provides treatment accordingly.

  • Communicates pertinent patient information or changes in patient condition to the team leader; documents these results per unit's policies.

  • Transports, weighs and assists patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and chairs.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines and responds to patient concerns in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.


Certifications:

Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Basic Life Support - CPR St Louis, Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) - Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC), Certified Hemodialysis Practitioner/Technician (CHT) - Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing Technology (BONENT)

Salary Range

$17.34 - $25.40 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
