Compensation Range:

$28.00 - $36.40

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Produces high quality DEXA scans by conducting scans in a safe and efficient manner. Independently performs DEXA (dual x-ray absorptiometry) scans on clinical and/or research patients as per MD order. Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with departmental policies. Provides accurate analysis of DEXA scan data and forwards such data to supervising MD office. Scans data into web-based computer system. Interacts with both internal and external physician/providers offices as needed. Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use of immobilization devices when warranted.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares room and patient per MD order, properly sets up equipment, and positions patients.
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure. Collects patient history prior to completing DEXA scan.
  • Produces a diagnostic, high quality scan for interpretation. Reviews the DEXA scan for accuracy and reports results/issues to supervising MD’s office.
  • Operates and maintains equipment to conduct test for DEXA, including daily QA calibration. Initiates service requests for any DEXA scanner issues.
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats.
  • Completes all necessary insurance verification prior to scan and bills for scans accurately.
  • Interacts with internal and external providers/physicians.
  • May participate in clinical trials research, as needed.
  • May assist with training of staff, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Maintains current NYS licensure required
  • ISCD or CBDT certification upon hire preferred
