About the Role

The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in disciplines related to their field of expertise.  More specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. 

The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.  The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation.  The Lecturer may be responsible for course coordination.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Demonstrable advanced knowledge and extensive experience with industry-standard 3D animation and Visual Effects (VFX) technologies such as Houdini, Maya, Unreal Engine, and Nuke. Tech art skills (e.g. materials and shader design, lighting, game engine tool development) desirable. This selection criteria could be evidenced via portfolio submission (web links preferred).
  • Demonstrable industry knowledge and experience in current and emerging industry workflows and pipelines for rendered and real-time 3D animation. Qualified candidates with industry experience (e.g. in 3D, VFX, or game production studios) are highly encouraged to apply.  
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, and deliver 3D animation and Visual Effects courses at undergraduate and/or post-graduate levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to support student issues related to effective learning.

The School of Design is a School comprised of the disciplines of Industrial Design, Digital Design and Communication Design.
