Job Summary:
In the Customer Operations III position you will apply acquired job skills to work on tasks that encompass all learnings and training from current level whilst building out and working on more complex duties over time. Focus will be on semi-routine tasks within standard operating procedures; however, applicants need to be flexible to and open to change as the workload may evolve to new customer requirement.
This position provides support to the overall team, including leading shifts with newer and less experienced colleagues. We are particularly interested in candidates with some exposure to telco environment, Fibre Optics installation and troubleshooting, Telecoms (DWDM, SDH, SDM), incident management, network ops experience will be highly regarded.
Key responsibilities:
Optical & Transmission Equipment (Dry Plant)
• Submarine Line Terminal Equipment (SLTE): Monitoring optical power levels, transponder health, and error correction (FEC) rates.
• Optical Distribution Frames (ODF): Fiber connector inspection and cleaning (scope-and-clean protocols), and patch cord management.
• DWDM/SDH Equipment: Alarm monitoring, card replacement, and software/firmware patching.
• Network Management System (NMS): Ensuring server health for the software that monitors the cable system, performing database backups, and managing user access.
Security & Access Control
• Cybersecurity: Managing firewalls for the NMS, conducting vulnerability scans on the DCN (Data Communication Network), and strictly controlling USB/external media access.
Operations
• NOC Interaction: 24/7 coordination with the central Network Operations Center.
• Provisioning: Cross-connecting new circuits for customers (installing cross-connects at the ODF).
• Remote Hands: Physically rebooting devices or reseating cards at the request of remote engineers.
• Inventory Management: Tracking spare parts (critical spares like laser cards and PFE modules must be onsite).
