As CS Lead Respiratory Care, you will provide managerial and clinical leadership of your assigned team. You will also serve as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support a diverse patient population, with many managing various chronic respiratory disorders, critical illnesses and related symptoms. In this role, combining your skills with a compassionate attitude and outlook can make a difference in their lives and help promote a journey toward recovery or stability.  

 

A caregiver in this position works variable days / evenings / nights / weekends, with shifts ranging from 6:00am—6:30pm.  

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide clinical and managerial leadership to the Respiratory staff as designated by departmental management. 

  • Monitor daily operations of assigned areas and act as a resource person for staff. 

  • Assign therapist workload and adjust staffing based on patient volume. 

  • Participate in continuous quality improvement. 

  • Provide feedback on staff performance. 

  • Assist with development and implementation of Respiratory Therapy Policy/Procedures/Protocols. 

  • Act as a Respiratory Care liaison by developing/maintaining communication with the multidisciplinary care team. 

  • Assist with developing and providing ongoing orientation/training for newly hired therapists, existing staff, nursing and LIPs. 

  • Perform blood gas puncture and analysis (where applicable). 

  • Perform patient education regarding treatment and care of respiratory illness/disease to patient and family (where applicable). 

  • If designated as a Technical Consultant by the blood gas Laboratory Director, meet minimum qualifications as specified by the CLIA code of federal regulations. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Associate’s Degree and three years of experience in Respiratory Therapy, including critical care or a specialty environment  

  • OR Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience  

  • Graduate of an accredited Program of Respiratory Therapy 

  • Current licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC 

  • Current licensure by the Ohio Respiratory Care Processional (RCP) Board 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and/or Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Certification (as appropriate to site) 

  • Completion of a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association (AHA) (inpatient only as appropriate to site) 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Requires normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.

  • May require sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
