MUFG Bank is seeking an Associate for their Structuring Desk within the Global Markets Division for Asia, based in Hong Kong. What you'll do:
As an Associate Structuring Desk Global Markets Division based in Hong Kong, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of FX and Interest Rate products offered by the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with various teams across Asia to develop innovative solutions that respond to client demands. You will prepare insightful materials for product materials alongside Relationship Managers and Sales teams, ensuring that every product offering is backed by robust analysis. By coordinating with internal stakeholders from Legal to IT, you will help streamline new product reviews and implementations. Your strong involvement in the introduction of new products, including the establishment of internal frameworks, will be critical in ensuring that products are aligned with business objectives.
Additionally, you will support operational readiness through system setup activities while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Staying informed about industry developments will enable you to contribute meaningfully during internal meetings or external conferences. Success in this role requires a blend of technical acumen, collaborative spirit, and a commitment to delivering dependable solutions within a supportive team environment.
Develop and enhance Foreign Exchange (FX) and Interest Rate products to ensure offerings remain competitive and aligned with client requirements.
Partner with Relationship Managers and Global Markets Sales teams by preparing product materials on FX and Derivative products, supporting business development efforts.
Contribute actively to the execution of departmental product initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and strategic priorities.
Assist in preparing comprehensive product overviews, workflows, and documentation that clearly articulate features, usage scenarios, and operational processes.
Coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders across Quants, Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Accounting, Operations, IT, Finance, and other relevant functions to support new product reviews and implementations.
Work closely with regional colleagues to share information, support integrated client solutions, and assist in launching new business initiatives across Asia.
Prepare data modelling, and supporting materials to ensure product offerings meet business requirements and regulatory standards.
Support system setup activities as well as documentation processes by liaising with middle office and back office teams to facilitate operational readiness.
Develop a thorough understanding of the end-to-end trading lifecycle as well as the department’s business objectives and priorities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, products, laws, regulations, and participate in internal meetings or external conferences as required.
Adhere to all applicable regulations, company policies, and internal guidelines.
What you bring:
To excel as an Associate Structuring Desk Global Markets Division in Hong Kong, you should bring proven experience from the banking or financial services sector—ideally five years or more—with direct exposure to Sales & Trading activities involving FX or Fixed Income products. Your proficiency in Japanese will be invaluable when connecting with stakeholders across Asia. Analytical thinking paired with strong problem-solving capabilities will allow you to navigate complex financial instruments while responding sensitively to client needs. Communication skills are vital; you must be able to convey ideas clearly whether preparing product materials or collaborating internally. Familiarity with global markets products such as FX derivatives ensures you can contribute effectively from day one. Understanding legal frameworks as well as regulatory guidelines will help you assess product impacts accurately. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is essential for this position.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in Global Markets Structuring, or front office in Global Markets.
Demonstrated experience or exposure to Sales and Trading activities involving FX, Rates or Fixed Income products is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Japanese is highly preferrable. As it enables effective collaboration with Japanese-speaking stakeholders across the region.
Strong analytical skills coupled with problem-solving abilities are necessary for understanding complex financial products and diverse client requirements.
A solid understanding of FX and/or Interest Rate Derivatives markets along with awareness of the competitive landscape is important.
Excellent communication skills are needed for articulating ideas clearly while working collaboratively with internal teams or external clients.
Ability to interact confidently across different functions and seniority levels ensures smooth coordination throughout projects.
Working knowledge of global markets products including FX and Interest Rate Derivative instruments is expected.
Basic to good understanding of legal, regulatory, accounting considerations related to global markets products allows assessment of product impacts with support from relevant functions.
A proactive attitude combined with collaborative approach enables effective performance within a team-oriented environment.
