Sandvik Mining & Rock Technology, India is looking for a “Tunneling Jumbo Specialist” Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment, tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry. The product offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.
Scope To work closely with Sales Manager in order to ensure support to ensure the increase in Sandvik’s business in tunnelling by providing technical support on Tunnelling Drilling equipment and to effectively transfer knowledge on Drilling operations and general maintenance during commissioning process.

Key performance areas
· Ensure a high focus on EHS in line with Sandvik Global standards
· Conducting trials for value based selling
· Monitor the commissioning of new machines
· Generating information of performance of competition machines
· Provide hands on training to operators for all types of Tunneling drills as & when required
· Coordinate and conduct training programs on site.
· Conduct classroom training for drill operations
 

Important Aspects of The Role Are:
· Has hands on experience on tunneling drills along with knowledge of operations for 8-10 years
· Practically performed drilling operations in tunnels with various drills
· Experience working within a multi-cultural environment
· Strong written and communication skills in English language
· Practical knowledge on Tunneling drill machines applications and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities of Tunnelling Jumbos Specialist:

Conduct Technical, Operational, and Maintenance Training of Tunnelling Jumbos.

• Deliver comprehensive training sessions on machine operation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting.
• Include advanced modules such as TCAD+ and iSURE & GEOSURE software for planning and performance optimization.
• Training to be conducted onsite at customer locations and online as per requirement.

Simulator Based Training for Operators and Customer maintenance Crew

• Provide hands-on training using DT922i simulators (Digital Driller) to enhance operator skills.

Execution of Bridge Unit / Rental Unit Deployment

• Manage the deployment of bridge units and rental units at customer sites.
• Coordinate logistics, installation and commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure timely and efficient operations.
• Remain stationed at customer sites as and when required to provide troubleshooting support, deliver operator and technical training, and fulfil deputation commitments for seamless operational and trouble-free continuity.”
• “Prepare and maintain monthly machine utilization reports, detailing key performance metrics such as machine availability percentage, breakdown duration, mean time between failures (MTBF) etc.”
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of Bridge Unit and Rental Agreements to ensure full compliance with Sandvik contractual standards. This includes accurately recording critical details such as contract initiation date, agreed duration, scope of work under customer responsibility, scope under Sandvik responsibility, operational terms, and any special conditions. Ensure these records are systematically updated and auditable for internal governance and legal compliance.”
• Ensure that all deployed bridge units are adequately insured and utilized strictly in accordance with Sandvik policy terms, including compliance with operational guidelines, contractual obligations, and risk management standards.

Record Keeping of Spare Parts Consumption and Revenue

• Maintain accurate records of spare parts usage for bridge units.
• Track revenue generated from bridge unit operations for internal reporting and analysis.

Performance Monitoring of DT820 (Production Unit – Pune)

• Regularly monitor and evaluate the performance of DT820 units at the production site.
• Identify areas for improvement and ensure optimal machine productivity and reliability.

Sales Promotion of Sandvik branded products and equipments.

Required Skills

• Strong technical knowledge of tunnelling equipment and drilling systems including strong knowledge of tunnelling applications.
• Proficiency in TCAD+ and iSURE software.
• Ability to conduct technical, maintenance and operation training sessions both onsite and online.
• Good understanding of maintenance practices and troubleshooting.
• Record-keeping and reporting skills for performance, spare parts, and revenue tracking of Bridge Units.
